Mandatory Credit: Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Brown Makes it Clear: He Wants to be in Philadelphia

While the Eagles’ offense started the season slowly, all eyes were on Brown, waiting to see how he would react. Throughout the first few weeks, Brown stayed out of the headlines. A breakout performance from the passing attack, including Brown, in their Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Rams, pointed towards the offense getting on track and putting any questions to bed. That did not happen. While the passing attack looked strong in the first half against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it sputtered in the second half. They did not complete a pass, and Brown finished the game with two catches for seven yards. It didn’t take long for Brown to add fuel to the fire after the game with this (now deleted) post on X:

𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: AJ Brown with a cryptic twitter post after only having 7 yards today.

The Eagles are 4-0. pic.twitter.com/Tpsc481Kgf

— JPA (@jasrifootball) September 28, 2025

This was interpreted in many different ways after the game. People began to speculate that people within the organization are not listening to him, specifically the offensive coaches. Another way it was interpreted was speculating that Brown may want to leave Philadelphia. Brown took the time while talking to the media after Wednesday’s practice to explain that it was just meant to express his overall frustrations with the offense.

AJ Browns speaks to the media for the first time since his tweet

** Started with a statement
** Says he let his frustrations get the best of him
** Says he is in constant communication with Sirianni and Patullo

More: pic.twitter.com/4bBUdZvHaS

— Eliot Shorr-Parks (@EliotShorrParks) October 1, 2025

Eagles fans can breathe a sigh of relief hearing this from Brown. Hearing he wants to stay in Philadelphia will put to bed the notion that the Eagles would include Brown in a trade.

Offensive Frustration, Not Anger Over Usage

The quote that best summarizes Browns perspective from the video gives excellent insight into his frustrations:

“I think it’s fair to want the ball to get us going. Last week against the Rams, I caught a sluggo, got us going, next play it opened up Dallas Goedert when the safety came to my side and opened him up.. It’s not just for targets or putting numbers up. No. I see us struggling and I’m a guy that wants the ball in those times. When we can’t find a way, give the ball to me. Game on the line? Give the ball to me. I want that pressure. I work hard for it.. If that’s the misconstrued way you wanna take my frustration, I don’t care. My teammates know. And I want everybody in the stadium to know”

Browns comments about the offense are absolutely right. It is consistent with his actions in recent years; he is frustrated with the current state of the offense as opposed to just wanting more touches. While they have not stated it publicly, it’s fair to assume other players share a similar opinion. He is one of the best wide receivers in football, and getting him the ball more (and in more creative ways) will give the offense new life. The attention Brown demands will open up the run game, while making things easier for Goedert and DeVonta Smith.

Brown is here to stay in Philadelphia. That is great news for the Eagles as they try to get their offense back on track.

A.J.
