Oregon is fresh off a thrilling 30-24 overtime victory over Penn State<\/a>. The Ducks are the second-ranked team in the nation and look to repeat as Big Ten<\/a> champions. Their hot start is largely due to a dominant offense, which has scored at least 30 points in every game. Oregon has several viable weapons offensively, including tight end Kenyon Sadiq. Sadiq entered 2025 overlooked, but he’s now in the discussion for the best tight end in college football. His traits are elite for the position, and he provides value in both the passing and running game. The talent is undeniable, but can Sadiq put it all together and be a first-round pick in 2026?<\/p>\n

2026 NFL Draft: Kenyon Sadiq Player Profile<\/h2>\n

Background<\/h3>\n

Sadiq was a four-star recruit and the fourth-ranked athlete in the Class of 2023<\/a> coming out of Skyline (Idaho).\u00a0 He committed to play tight end for Dan Lanning<\/a> at Oregon. Sadiq saw limited action over 14 games as a true freshman, having just five catches for 24 yards. He caught his first career touchdown in a 45-6 victory over Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl.\u00a0 His role in the offense expanded in 2024, and he showed glimpses of an elite player. Sadiq finished with 24 receptions for 308 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games as a sophomore. Both his touchdowns came in a 45-37 win over Penn State in the 2024 Big Ten Championship. 2025 gives Sadiq his first opportunity to be the top target at his position, with Terrance Ferguson<\/a> off to the NFL. Through five games, he has 15 catches for 204 yards and three touchdowns<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The biggest strength in Sadiq’s game is his blocking. He shows great effort and plays through the whistle as a run blocker. Sadiq can go up against defensive ends and linebackers and hold his own. As a receiver, Sadiq displays excellent speed and acceleration for his position. This makes him a dangerous threat after the catch, particularly on screens which Oregon takes advantage of. He can also win vertically and routinely makes plays up the seam. Sadiq is alignment versatile, as he lines up both outside and along the offensive line.<\/p>\n

Weaknesses<\/h3>\n

While Sadiq’s traits are impressive, his production as a receiver is still fairly limited. This should change as he gets more reps as TE1 in the Ducks’ offense, but he’s still somewhat unproven as a true receiving threat. His route running can still use refinement, as many of his targets are behind the line of scrimmage. Sadiq’s abilities after the catch are evident, but developing into a more well-rounded pass catcher is his biggest area of improvement.<\/p>\n

Overview<\/h3>\n

There aren’t many prospects who have skyrocketed up mock drafts the way Sadiq has. His combination of blocking, speed, and versatility makes him an intriguing option for NFL teams looking to bolster their tight end room. The floor at the next level is a quality blocking tight end that can make plays after the catch as a receiver. If he can expand his route tree, then the upside of a Pro Bowler is there. His connection with Dante Moore<\/a> should result in a breakout season from a receiving standpoint. Projecting draft stock is tricky with tight ends, as it is not a premium position when it comes to draft value. Sadiq has emerged as an early frontrunner to be the first tight end selected in 2026. If he can continue his upward trajectory as a pass catcher, there’s a strong chance he hears his name called on day one.<\/p>\n
