Entering the final year of his contract, Robinson isn’t the flashiest player in the league but has established himself as a solid downhill runner who can follow his blocks, break tackles, and lead a rushing attack. Playing alongside a legitimate franchise quarterback for the first time in his career, the running back finished the 2024 season with 799 yards and eight touchdowns on 187 attempts.

However, the emergence of seventh-round pick Jacory Croskey-Merritt could threaten Robinson’s job. Recently, team insider Ben Standig predicted that Brian Robinson will not make the Commanders, as the rookie and veteran Austin Ekeler are seemingly outplaying the veteran. While it’s hard to imagine Washington cutting Robinson, they could trade him to any of the following teams.

Jul 24, 2025; Ashburn, VA, USA; Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. (8) jokes with Commanders cornerback Car’lin Vigers (22) during practice on day two of training camp at OrthoVirginia Training Center at Commanders Park. The former Steeler injured his eye in a fireworks accident, and nobody knows exactly what to expect from the free agent signee. While he is running and doing drills, the vague updates regarding his status make him a risk for the upcoming season. First-round pick Omarion Hampton is the future of this backfield, but Robinson can be an adequate short-term starter and change of pace back for what should be a run-heavy offense led by head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys enter the 2025 season with the league’s worst collection of running backs, and it’s not particularly close. Veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders have not played like starting-caliber backs in years, and rookie Jaydon Blue is an unremarkable fifth-round pick. Running backs are the most replaceable position in football, but you still need a better grouping than this. The Commanders might not want to trade Brian Robinson to a division rival, but they may have no choice if Dallas makes the best offer.

Kansas City Chiefs

Isiah Pacheco is a fine starting running back, but there’s plenty of room for improvement here. While the former seventh-round pick has an entertaining rushing style, he’s nothing special as a receiver, and his subpar vision leads to missed opportunities in the run game. Brian Robinson may not be an elite pass-catcher himself, but the Commanders running back is better at following blocks and should be able to take advantage of what should be an above-average offensive line.

Main Photo: Geoff Burke – Imagn Images

One team insider believes the Washington Commanders could trade running back Brian Robinson as he enters the final year of his deal.

[36,19,16,18,8896
9148,7642,7811,7422,33283,8996
post-242544","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-cowboys","category-chiefs","category-chargers","category-washington-commanders","tag-brian-robinson","tag-chargers-featured","tag-chiefs-featured","tag-dallas-cowboys-news","tag-jacory-croskey-merritt","tag-washington-commanders-news
["GET
