When the Cowboys\u2019 training camp started in Oxnard, California, the glaring question around the practice field was about Micah Parsons not joining the team. The real reason behind his absence on the day 1 reporting was, as we know, a delay in the contract extension by the Cowboys front office and Jerry Jones. That also resulted in fans fuming at Jerry Jones<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But while fans are showing anger for Micah, the real situation in the Cowboys’ headquarters is quite shocking. Earlier, the NFL experts and analysts were expecting that the franchise would sign Parsons after training camp<\/a>, but they are not even close to getting it done. NFL insider Adam Schefter has reported on July 22 that the Cowboys are nowhere near re-signing Micah, while the deal is on the way.<\/p>\n

But this \u2018situation of dragging out\u2019 the contract extension is not unfamiliar to any knowledgeable Cowboy, and the Cowboys’ No.4 Dak Prescott is one of them. Prescott was recently asked about the contract extension of Micah, and he reiterated the same behavior of the Cowboys’ front office on July 24.<\/p>\n

On July 24, Jon Machota reported what Dak said about Micah’s current situation. The Cowboys<\/strong><\/a> quarterback said, \u201cI mean, it\u2019s an every-year conversation, whether it\u2019s myself, Zack Martin, CeeDee Lamb, now Micah Parsons. It\u2019s a part of it in a sense. Is it something that I wish any of us were going through? Absolutely not. But I think Micah\u2019s doing a hell of a job with it being here.\u201d<\/em> In CeeDee and Prescott’s case, the same waiting saga was going on. The wait then eventually culminated in a contract extension after the regular season started.<\/p>\n

Dak also added, \u201cHe\u2019s a great teammate, showing up, obviously not just on the field and being focused, but whether it be in the camaraderie, hanging out, dinner. He\u2019s not just doing it to sign off and say, \u2018Hey, Jerry, look at me.\u2019 He wants to be out there practicing. And honestly, I\u2019m glad he\u2019s not. He can\u2019t do that to himself. That\u2019s the business of it. That\u2019s the business of a holdout, so I do think he\u2019s taken some great steps with being here.”<\/em><\/p>\n

And lastly, Prescott said, \u201cI don\u2019t know if there\u2019s a correct way to handle it, to be honest with you. I will say that I think he deserves to get paid. I think he should get paid, and, ultimately, going off the history of what I\u2019ve seen, he will get paid. Hopefully, it\u2019s sooner than later.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Well, no one knows when Jerry Jones and the front office will sign a contract extension with Parsons. But till then, let Micah focus and start pounding the opponents in the upcoming season, and let’s wait for him to become the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history.<\/p>\n
