Then, he made the move to tight end and became an underrated, underutilized piece of the Ohio State offense. While he may not leave the Buckeyes with impressive stats, Scott has the athletic profile of a high-upside TE2 in the NFL. Scott is one of only two former Buckeyes not expected to be drafted. If he is, he could set the single-draft record for most picks from a single school.

More 2025 NFL Draft Profiles

2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Gee Scott Jr.

Height: 6’2″
Weight: 238 pounds
Arms: 32 3/8″
Hands: 10 1/8″
Vertical: 35.0″
Broad: 9’11”
RAS: 9.26 (as a fullback)
School: Ohio State

Gee Scott Jr. NFL Draft Overview

Scott came to Ohio State as a highly-rated receiver as part of a haul that included the likes of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Paris Johnson Jr., and C.J. Stroud. After one year, he made the switch to tight end and began learning from one of the top players in Ohio State history at the position.

Scott hauled in his first pass as part of a five-catch, 42-yard performance in 2021. In 2022, he caught five for 28 yards and scored his first touchdown. His 2023 took a slight step forward with 70 yards and one touchdown off 10 catches. Last year, he had a career year with 253 yards and two scores off 27 receptions.

His production does not leap off the page by any means. However, he made a physical transition by adding 35 pounds of muscle from when he arrived on campus.

Scott was never that elite receiver he was projected to be when he enrolled at Ohio State. However, he stepped up when the Buckeyes needed him. In the four CFP games, Scott amassed 103 yards off 11 receptions, including a 30-yard fake screen on the first play of the 20-beatdown in the Rose Bowl.

Strengths

Matchup nightmare with his size, strength, and speed

Has the hands and shiftiness of a receiver

Progressed at sitting down in the zone, finding soft spots

Polished route runner

Alignment versatile

Weaknesses

Projected as a fullback for RAS purposes…how many fullbacks are left?

Will need to continue to develop blocking abilities

Incomplete route tree

A tad undersized

Very little productivity in college

Can he test defenses with vertical routes, or is he more of a dink-and-dunk, find-the-hole-in-the-zone kind of receiver?

Projection: Seventh Round/UDFA

Bottom Line on Gee Scott Jr.

Scott is an interesting case. While he had very little productivity at Ohio State, he has the athletic upside and background as a receiver suggest he could be a better pro. Even then, “unproductive” for some players was significantly better than what Scott was able to do.

If he lines up against a nickel corner or linebacker, Scott is a mismatch. He can catch the ball away from his body and is solid in contested catches. As a tight end, however, he will need to get better at in-line blocking. He is fine blocking corners, but once he has to line up against actual pass rushers, he struggles.

If Scott can land in a system where he is primarily a pass-catching threat, he could thrive. His route tree is incomplete but that’s not to say he is unable to develop one.

In the draft, if a team has an established, unquestioned TE1, that team could take a seventh-round flier on a player with the potential Scott has. His scouting combine and Pro Day results suggest that Scott could be a solid pro. Although, don’t go targeting him in dynasty rookie drafts. The likelihood of him developing into a fantasy-relevant player is slim.

He’s a low-risk, high-reward prospect. As one AFC North scout said, if you’re taking Scott, “you’re betting on the athlete, not the production.

Main Image: Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

With limited productivity in college, Gee Scott Jr. and the NFL Draft seem like an unlikely pairing.
