The veteran signal caller appeared to injure his hand while fumbling the football on a third quarter sack and had to use his right hand to brace himself for the impact.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u00a0<strong>Chicago Sun-Times,\u00a0<\/strong>Cutler apparently suffered ligament damage on the same hand in their week one loss to the\u00a0<strong>Houston Texans<\/strong>, and re-aggravated the injury on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Backup quarterback Brian Hoyer, who the Bears signed this past off-season, will get the start this Sunday when they take on the\u00a0<strong>Dallas Cowboys.\u00a0<\/strong>Hoyer has bounced around the\u00a0<strong>NFL<\/strong> primarily as a backup, but he did start nine games for the Texans last season, including a humiliating playoff loss to the\u00a0<strong>Kansas City Chiefs.\u00a0<\/strong>In 2013 and 2014, the veteran quarterback also started a combined 13 games for the\u00a0<strong>Cleveland Browns.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hoyer went undrafted in the 2009<strong>\u00a0NFL Draft<\/strong>, and signed with the<strong> New England Patriots<\/strong> as an undrafted free-agent out of\u00a0<strong>Michigan State.\u00a0<\/strong>Hoyer was also a member of the\u00a0<strong>Pittsburgh Steelers<\/strong> and<strong> Arizona Cardinals.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cutler, 33, is in the third year of a seven-year, $126.7 million deal, and the<strong> Pro Bowl<\/strong> (2008) quarterback is due to make $16 million this season. Prior to his injury, Cutler was completing 61% of his passes through the first two games of the season, with only one touchdown and two interceptions.
