Reports emerged on Friday that a Texas man is suing Tennessee Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed or a member of his entourage for allegedly shooting him<\/a> in a parking lot. This allegation will obviously concern the Tennessee Titans organization and the league. The franchise has released a tersely worded statement, as is SOP when things of this nature arise. However, the league has not yet commented on the matter as of press time.<\/p>\n

Tennessee Titans Cornerback Sued For Alleged December Incident<\/h2>\n

The Titans’ top cornerback, L’Jarius Sneed, is being sued by a Texas man named Christian Nshimiyimana<\/em> for disturbing allegations. Those allegations include being a party to or the one who allegedly pulled the trigger in the shooting. Another allegation involves a female relative who “identified” as Sneed’s mother and Sneed threatening Mr. Nshimiyimana into not exercising his legal rights. The incident is said to have occurred on December 6, but the lawsuit was filed on February 20. This suit lists all the allegations above, and Mr. N is suing for $1 million in damages.<\/p>\n

What was said?<\/h3>\n

The attorney for Nshimyimana made several pointed remarks about the embattled star cornerback<\/a> and the organization. Sneed, injured for most of the 2024 season, was subject to plenty of trade speculation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe proof is there,\u201d McCathern said. \u201cThere is video surveillance from the dealership showing the car and the person who opened fire on Christian. We want to know why this happened. We\u2019re thankful no one was shot, but we continue to search for the reason behind this incident.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There are two definitive outcomes regarding the law and Sneed. If there is definitive proof that the allegations are factual, then the case should be pursued to the extent of the law. The other outcome is that the burden of proof standard was not satisfied.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegardless, the unprovoked aggravated assault of my client with a deadly weapon is part of a pattern of behavior for Mr. Sneed, and he must be held responsible for his actions so they do not happen again,\u201d McCathern said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The lawyer also alleges that Sneed has a past of troubling behavior, such as the incident<\/a> that Sneed was not party to but had involvement in through intermediaries. Sneed’s car was a target of gun violence in May 2022 when he was back in his hometown. The cornerback was not arrested but detained by police so that they could ask questions. However, one incident that Sneed was party to may not constitute “a pattern of behavior” in the eyes of the law as the attorney alleges.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is clear that the Titans manage their players off the field just as they do on the field. No wonder they were the worst team in the NFL last year,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The team was indeed in contention for the top selection.<\/a> The statement may not engender much sympathy for the case with snide remarks like this. McCathern stated that he and his team reached out to the team regarding the situation multiple times to no avail.<\/p>\n

What Could Happen?<\/h3>\n

Neither Sneed nor his representatives have said anything to dispute this matter, so all we have is one party’s word. The league will surely do its due diligence in investigating the matter, and a range of outcomes can be predicted, such as being placed on the Commissioner’s exempt list and suspension. At minimum, the player will meet with league representatives about the matter. Speculating on such outcomes is not the proper forum until the details have been released.<\/p>\n

How Could it Affect the Titans?<\/h4>\n

According to OverTheCap<\/a>, Tennessee has the fourth-highest cap space with a shade under $39 million in room. The draft is next week, and the cornerback room is thin<\/a>, even with Sneed healthy and not facing trouble. They currently hold eight selections in the upcoming draft<\/a> in Green Bay. They likely devote one or two selections to bolster the cornerback group. Should they opt to go that route, the free agency market has veterans like Mike Hilton, Tre’Davious White, and Asante Samuel, Jr.<\/p>\n

It should be hoped that a quick resolution can be found, no matter the outcome after the Titans’ cornerback is sued for the alleged shooting incident.<\/p>\n
