From veterans with Hall of Fame resumes to younger players looking for another shot, here are some of the top free agents still available on both sides of the ball.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the headliner of the class still on the market after being released by the New York Jets. Despite being 41 years old, the future Hall of Famer is healthy and exploring options, whether it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, or retirement. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Rodgers recently met with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the meeting went “really well.” Rodgers met with head coach Mike Tomlin, owner Art Rooney, general manager Omar Khan, and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney recently said that “all signs are positive” regarding Rodgers to Pittsburgh. There’s also reported interest in a potential opportunity with the Minnesota Vikings, depending on what head coach Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings want to do. Kevin O’Connell indicated that he believes in his 2024 first-round pick, J.J. McCarthy.

Top Remaining NFL Free Agents 2025 and Potential Landing Spots

Other Offensive Players Still Available

At running back, J.K. Dobbins bounced back in 2024 with 1,058 scrimmage yards and nine total touchdowns for the Los Angeles Chargers, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. He looked healthy for the first time in years and brought real juice to the offense. At just 26, he’s one of the most intriguing free agents still on the board. The Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns, and Las Vegas Raiders have all been floated as potential landing spots.

On the wide receiver front, veterans Keenan Allen and Tyler Lockett remain available. Allen is a proven possession target with elite route-running skills. There’s been some speculation about Allen returning to his former team, the Los Angeles Chargers. Head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers Jim Harbaugh said “it would be cool” to bring Allen back to Los Angeles, according to Daniel Popper of the Athletic. Tyler Lockett, a savvy, reliable veteran receiver, can still stretch the field and produce from the slot. He’s reportedly drawn interest from the Las Vegas Raiders, though no deal is in place as of yet.

2025 Top NFL Defensive Free Agents

Defensively, linebacker C.J. Mosley is searching for his next home after parting ways with the New York Jets. He still brings leadership and solid production in the middle of a defense. While no specific team has emerged as a favorite, Bleacher Report recently linked Mosley to the San Francisco 49ers as a potential fit. Mosley has publicly stated he plans to keep playing in 2025 and is keeping his options open.

Matt Judon, even at the age of 32, remains one of the better pass rushers on the market and could be a late off-season gem. He’s been connected to the Kansas City Chiefs, who are reportedly interested in bolstering their edge rotation with a veteran presence.

In the secondary, cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. and safeties Justin Simmons and Jordan Whitehead are available. Samuel brings youth and ball skills, and many view him as a strong fit for the Buffalo Bills, who need help at outside corner. Simmons, still one of the smartest and most reliable safeties in the league, reportedly ranks the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders high on his list of preferred landing spots. After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released Jordan Whitehead, he now offers physicality and starting experience at strong safety and should land with a team before the season begins.

With camps approaching, these veterans and young talents could be scooped up quickly as injuries happen and rosters take shape. Keep an eye on these names, they won’t be free for long.

Main Photo: Kevin R.
