At Ohio State, Hancock was an underrated piece of college football’s top secondary. With all of the attention elsewhere, Hancock shined as a slot corner and improved his modest draft projection for this year. When he declared, he wasn’t on most draft boards. He was considered a Clemson lock before flipping to the Buckeyes in the July before Early National Signing Day. The Ohio State cornerback room was already solid, so as a true freshman, Hancock appeared in seven games as a depth piece and managed just four tackles and a pass breakup. As a sophomore, it was more of the same. He played in six games and totaled five tackles.

He earned playing time as a junior and was the Buckeyes’ CB3/nickel in the slot. In that role, Hancock made 41 tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, five pass breakups, and two interceptions. One of those interceptions was a 93-yard pick-six in the win over Rutgers.

His 2024 NFL Draft prospects did not line up, so he joined the group of Buckeyes who returned to win a title. In that National Championship-winning season, Hancock continued his high-end play. He made 48 tackles, two tackles for loss, half of a sack, eight pass breakups, two more forced fumbles, and an interception. He earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention as a senior.

Strengths

Position versatile; can play down, back, and in the slot

Can create turnovers with strong punch on the ball (four forced fumbles)

Great at disrupting the timing of receivers in the slot

Made numerous clutch plays down the stretch in Ohio State’s CFP run

Comes downhill with a nastiness and can deliver a jarring hit in the run game

Has good zone discipline and knows where everyone is supposed to be on the defense

4.45 speed won’t be outrun by burners

9.82 RAS

Weaknesses

Will need to add some mass if he’s going to stay in the slot

Had a tendency to get fooled and out of position on double moves

Can get overwhelmed once larger blockers got ahold of him

Like most OSU corners, he’s grabby

While he can come downhill to make the play, his tackling technique can cause missed tackles

Bets Fits: Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens

Projection: Mid-to-late Day Three

Jordan Hancock had a monster performance at the Ohio State Pro Day and should be on every DC’s radar.

“If you’re a DC that likes to get creative, Jordan Hancock is the Swiss Army knife back there that does it all.”

–@Bcarp3 pic.twitter.com/YJjmWdWB9s

— Bobby Carpenter Show (@BobbyCarpShow) March 28, 2025

Bottom Line on Jordan Hancock

Hancock is going to be an interesting player to watch. He’s an athletic specimen who can play just about anywhere in the secondary and flashed greatness in his time at Ohio State. As a slot corner with NFL corners on the outside, he was not given many opportunities to show what his ceiling could be. By the time the draft rolls around, Hancock could be the best-kept secret and some team will get a steal on day three.

As he gets going, Hancock could be perfect for obvious passing situations. Teams are going to love his ability to create turnovers with those four forced fumbles and his ability to time out his hands to break up the pass. He will need to develop route recognition and tackling, of course. He can recover if beaten by a receiver and has the speed to chase down ball carriers from across the field.

Last season, returning was the right decision for Hancock. He made big play after big play for Ohio State and set a new career high in tackles in the CFP Cotton Bowl win, including a crucial tackle for loss on third down right before Jack Sawyer’s scoop-and-score. There is a good possibility that he will outperform his draft slot.

Main Image: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images

After being a crucial piece of the Ohio State CFP title, Jordan Hancock’s NFL Draft profile shows he could be a diamond in the rough.

[1647
32605,33466,7661,7638
post-226930","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-draft","tag-2025-nfl-draft","tag-jordan-hancock","tag-panthers-featured","tag-ravens-featured
["GET
