The 2025 NFL Draft features a historically good class of defensive tackles. There are some elite prospects expected to go off the board in the first round, but the biggest selling point of this class is its depth. With so many quality prospects available, teams will be able to find starting-caliber players into the middle and even later rounds of the draft. He spent four years with the Golden Flashes; West redshirted in 2020 then played the next three seasons. Over those three seasons, West totaled 109 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, and eight sacks in 36 games. In his final season at Kent State, West was named third-team All-MAC. Then, West transferred to Indiana for his senior season. His impact was noticed immediately, as he helped form the Hoosiers’ run defense into one of the nation’s best. West was named honorable mention All-Big 10 as he racked up<\/a> 42 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks.<\/p>\n While there’s a lot to like about CJ West as a draft prospect, his most exciting feature is his athleticism. Though it’s not a very important metric for a defensive tackle, running a sub-5 second 40-yard dash is an impressive feat. His 10-yard split of 1.73 seconds was not as great, but still a good number for a defensive lineman. While West didn’t test agility drills at the combine, his explosiveness and short-area quickness are evident when watching him play. His 33″ vertical jump also speaks to his explosiveness.
