While he is still a member of the team, tight end Dallas Goedert has likely played his last snap with the Philadelphia Eagles. A second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft<\/a>, Goedert has been one of the league’s better tight ends since entering the league. While he’s never made a Pro Bowl, he has emerged as a reliable receiver who can hold his own in the trenches. Unfortunately, that might not be enough for him to keep his job on a loaded Eagles roster.<\/p>\n

Now entering the final year of his Eagles contract, Dallas Goedert has an $11.76 million cap hit with no guaranteed money. Philadelphia can save $7.7 million by designating him a post-June 1st cut or save $21.34 million by trading him before June 1st. According to ESPN’s Tim McManus<\/a>, it’s “hard to envision” Goedert returning to Philadelphia without agreeing to a pay cut. Whether it’s a trade or a release, the tight end will probably join a new team before Week 1.<\/p>\n

The Eagles have the most talented roster in football, but that on-field ability comes at a cost. Dallas Goedert is a good player, but the Eagles can’t justify his price tag after paying A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, Saquon Barkley, and Jalen Hurts. However, any of the following teams could use a player like Goedert and should have the financial resources to make a deal work.<\/p>\n

Carolina Panthers<\/h4>\n

The Carolina Panthers have several young pass-catchers who showed promise in 2025, but they don’t have much in terms of proven veterans. Adam Thielen isn’t getting any younger, so perhaps the team could target someone like Dallas Goedert in a trade. Goedert could be the perfect security blanket for the resurgent Bryce Young<\/a> while mentoring second-year tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Indianapolis Colts<\/h4>\n

The Indianapolis Colts will host one of the league’s most depressing quarterback battles in Anthony Richardson versus Daniel Jones<\/a>. No matter who wins, the Colts will send out a below-average starter and need all the support they can get to create a functioning offense. While the team has plenty of wide receivers, a Dallas Goedert trade would fill the glaring hole at wide receiver.<\/p>\n

Kansas City Chiefs<\/h4>\n

Travis Kelce will return for one more season, but the future Hall of Famer isn’t getting any younger. Kelce looked like a shell of himself throughout the 2024 season, and he probably won’t find the Fountain of Youth in the offseason. Dallas Goedert is no spring chicken himself, but the 30-year-old has more in his tank and could be the next featured tight end in this offense. He won’t put up prime Kelce numbers, but he should improve on the present-day version of the Chiefs legend.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Chargers<\/h4>\n

The Los Angeles Chargers had the worst tight ends in football last year, and they haven’t done much to improve the situation. Tyler Conklin is a career journeyman<\/a>, and a coach like Jim Harbaugh should put more effort into finding a tight end who can positively impact the passing and running games. Nobody will confuse Dallas Goedert with Antonio Gates, but a trade would give Justin Herbert another reliable set of hands opposite Ladd McConkey.<\/p>\n
