If the Chargers were to get any of these second-round targets listed below, considering their draft a victory would not be a far cry. Especially if they win in the first round as we expect them to.

Second-Round Targets For The Chargers In The 2025 NFL Draft

Jayden Higgins Or Any Big X Receiver

Jayden Higgins out of Iowa State is a big-bodied receiver who can win at any position, X, Z, or even at the “Power Slot” role. His reliability in all roles should easily give the Chargers an easy process when scouting Higgins. LWOS Scouting Expert, Ian Harper had this to say about Higgins:

“Higgins’ physicality and ability to work through opposing contact easily makes him as effective as he is. He flows with contact and can carry his momentum to continue his designed route concepts. Despite being a larger vertical target, he sinks through his legs well and often uses it to get a step on outside corners. He knows when and where to sit down against zone coverage and makes himself readily available at all levels.”

That description of a receiver is exactly the skillset the Chargers need, due to their lack of physicality in the receiving room and lack of reliability outside of the standout rookie from last season, Ladd McConkey.

WR1 stuff from Jayden Higgins iwbh
whole Texas sideline shook pic.twitter.com/WCebMADi6c

— JetPack Galileo (@JetPackGalileo) March 27, 2025

Now with this said, Higgins is not the only player that could be available at 55 with the skillset. Elic Ayomanor once had first-round hype and could very well fall into the second round and give the Chargers what they need at receiver. Jack Bech is the ultimate “Harbaugh Guy” and has immense contested catch ability.

If the Chargers can land a big-bodied reliable “X” receiver at pick 55, that would be a complete success for their 2025 NFL Draft in Round 2.

Elijah Arroyo: A Reliable Target For The Chargers Offense

Another second-round target for the Chargers is the athletic Tight End out of Miami, Elijah Arroyo. The Miami Tight End will immediately fill the Chargers’ need for a receiving, difference-making Tight End. Even with the Chargers signing Tyler Conklin and getting the absolute most out of blocking Tight End, Will Dissly in the receiving game, it is very apparent that the need of a field-stretching Tight End is crucial for this offense to succeed.

LWOS Draft Expert, Ian Harper had plenty of good things to say about Arroyo, including:

“Arroyo has optimal physical traits for the position. Tight ends in the NFL need to be able to hold up physically and contribute as blockers. While he is not the best blocking tight end in his class, Arroyo can hold his own as a blocker. His best attribute, however, is his receiving ability. He was moved all around the field at Miami and comes into the NFL with the rare ability to be moved into the slot or out wide. As a receiver, he displays soft hands and stays concentrated through the catch.”

Chargers fans, if you notice a theme thus far for this second-round targets list, and the theme is getting a playmaker for Justin Herbert, you’d stand corrected. To me, that is the biggest need for the Chargers, getting anyone who is reliable in the passing game to compliment McConkey and give Herbert a fighting chance in playoff scenarios. Arroyo would do just that, whilst giving the Chargers a future at Tight End.

Former Miami TE Elijah Arroyo had the fastest ball-carrier time (21.8 mph) of any TE in 2024 – NCAA or NFL.

Probably don't need to worry about his lack of athletic testing #NFLDraft2025 pic.twitter.com/Y6V8x8zFhA

— Jacob Gibbs (@jagibbs_23) March 25, 2025

Second Round Target: Josaiah Stewart… A Third Round Prospect

The last second-round target for the Chargers is on defense, EDGE, Josaiah Stewart out of Michigan. The obvious Michigan connection will play a vital role in the Chargers considering Stewart at 55, though his 2025 NFL Draft Consensus Board ranking is 75, a third-round grade.

But if scouts were to completely honest, that grade is deflated due to his smaller stature. Stewart is a complete playmaker who can dominate in both the run and pass game. Some analysts recognize this and even predicted the Chargers to take Stewart as high as the first round in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Before the end of the college football season, Draft Expert, Ian Harper described Stewart:

“Stewart’s explosiveness and determination throughout the play are his most obvious play strengths. He fires off the line, clears tackles quickly on the outside, and pursues the ball carrier in the backfield with high intent. He’s an all-around fast mover, with fantastically sharp arm and hand work. He flies around the edge and can both rip past tackles with viciousness and supplement consistent leg drive with upper body force that generates dominant bull rushes.”

This play tells me all I need to know about 6'1", 250lb @josaiah_stewart

There's guys three inches taller and 20lbs heavier that don't do this. pic.twitter.com/XqdAZw4nXn

— Brett Kollmann (@BrettKollmann) March 8, 2025

The Chargers can land a guy that they are familiar with whilst giving them a true standout rusher who fills a niche need and who can help from day one and become a starter in the following seasons, that would be a complete victory. Even if Stewart is projected to go just a bit later. It is not a reach if the player outperforms his draft value.

Main Image: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images

There are plenty of second round targets for the Chargers in the 2025 NFL Draft, but there are only a few that would warrant an A+ grade.

[18,1647
7642,32933,33075,33053,33269,1652,33067,5579,32330
post-226216","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-chargers","category-nfl-draft","tag-chargers-featured","tag-elic-ayomanor","tag-elijah-arroyo","tag-jack-bech","tag-jayden-higgins","tag-jim-harbaugh","tag-josaiah-stewart","tag-justin-herbert","tag-ladd-mcconkey
["GET
