The Colts, of course, will address several positions in the 2025 NFL Draft. Tight end and linebacker are two of the team\u2019s biggest weaknesses. Indy\u2019s tight-end room was very disappointing in 2024 and needs a massive makeover. Plus, the team must replace linebackers E.J. Speed<\/a> and Grant Stuard<\/a>, who they lost in free agency.<\/p>\n However, the Colts can\u2019t overlook the running back position. They need talented players to help out star Jonathan Taylor<\/a> in the backfield.<\/p>\n Cam Skattebo attended Rio Linda High School in Rio Linda, California. He rushed for 3,550 yards and 42 touchdowns during his junior year. He helped the school win a state championship that season. Despite a magnificent high school career, Skattebo only received one Division I offer, which was from his hometown school of Sacramento State.<\/p>\n Skattebo wound up playing two seasons at Sacramento State. During the 2022 campaign, he rushed for 1,382 yards and seven touchdowns, threw a touchdown pass, and returned an onside kick for a touchdown. Following such an impressive season, he earned first-team all-Big Sky, Big Sky offensive player of the year, <\/sup>and an FCS All-American honors.<\/p>\n Skattebo later transferred to Arizona State. In 2024, he rushed for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also caught 45 passes for 605 yards and three touchdowns. Skattebo was impressive during Arizona State\u2019s Peach Bowl loss<\/a> to Texas in double overtime. In the losing effort, he rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns, caught eight passes for 99 yards, and threw a 42-yard touchdown pass.<\/p>\n Jonathan Taylor is hands-down one of the league\u2019s top running backs. The Colts star was the NFL\u2019s rushing leader in 2021. He made his second career Pro Bowl last season, rushing for 1,431 yards and 11 touchdowns.<\/p>\n Taylor can do amazing things when he\u2019s healthy. But unfortunately, he has missed his share of games due to injury over the past few years. That\u2019s why the Colts need solid backups at running back. Last year\u2019s backups, Trey Sermon<\/a> and Tyler Goodson, weren\u2019t very impressive.<\/p>\n The Colts signed Khalil Herbert<\/a> this offseason. While the signing could be a great move<\/a>, the team still needs additional help. Cam Skattebo can be that help. The 5-foot-9, 219-pounder posted an explosive 39.5-inch vertical jump at the combine. He plays like former Tampa Bay Buccaneers fullback Mike Alstott. In other words, he\u2019s a bruiser who\u2019s nearly impossible to tackle. Bleacher Report<\/a> wrote this about Skattebo:<\/p>\n \u201cCam Skattebo is a physical, hard-charging running back who looks to set the tone. Skattebo is difficult to bring down on first contact. He runs with a forward lean and lowers his shoulders to power through arm tackles with a finisher’s mentality. He’s a physical runner who will test the defense’s will. As a defender, you must be prepared to bring the same energy for all four quarters.\u201d<\/p>\n Surely, that’s the kind of player the Colts need.
