Minnesota Vikings<\/strong> All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson<\/a><\/strong> will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus that he suffered in Sunday night\u2019s victory over the Green Bay Packers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Initially, Peterson hoped to forgo the operation in order to play in Week Three. However, after consulting with renowned physician Dr. James Andrews<\/strong>, who repaired his torn ACL in 2011, he opted for the procedure. Peterson could’ve had part of the meniscus\u00a0taken out, instead of the repair, which is a two to four week healing process.<\/p>\n

Adrian Peterson Will Undergo Surgery, Out At Least 3-4 Months<\/h2>\n

According to ESPN<\/strong>\u2019s Josina Anderson<\/strong>, the 31-year-old tailback will have the surgery on Thursday morning for a \u201cbuckle handle tear\u201d in his meniscus. The minimum recovery time is between three to four months long, but can be longer than\u00a0six months.<\/p>\n

Peterson has what is known as "bucket handle tear." I'm told that's a minm of 3-4 months out & up 6months usually. Again Peterson has faith.<\/p>\n
