His collegiate career started with the Troy Trojans, getting onto the field in his first season with the team. He played in 12 total games his freshman year, accumulating just five tackles. He worked into a starting role the following year and started the first five games in 2022 before suffering a concussion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ransaw returned after missing three games and finished the season with 25 tackles and three pass deflections. He was arguably the team\u2019s top defensive back in 2023, playing in all 14 games. He racked up his first collegiate interception to go along with 50 tackles and a pass breakup. His time ended at Troy, transferring to Tulane before his senior season. He played in 10 games in 2024, getting a sack, two PBUs, and 31 tackles.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Accolades:\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2025 NFL Scouting Combine Invitee<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2025 Reese\u2019s Senior Bowl Invitee<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Strengths\/Pros:\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ransaw made waves at the NFL Combine with his blazing 4.33-second 40-yard dash and some of that speed does flash in his tape. He glides smoothly around the field and can straight-line well to close out plays. He\u2019s able to line up in multiple corner and safety alignments and has experience in different zone and man coverage schemes. When working back into zone coverage assignments, his feet move well beneath his base.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His hips work nicely when covering wideouts in space, adjusting his base on the fly, and sticking with wideouts in space. Ransaw drops into his back foot and drives downhill sharply when recognizing underneath plays. He flips his head smoothly in zone coverage as plays develop to counter play schemes and keep himself in a good position. He shifts well laterally in tighter coverages and shoots through gaps when blitzing.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Weaknesses\/Cons:\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ransaw is visibly stiff initially in man coverage and needs to stay much more active overall to counter quick cuts. He will get caught being too flat-footed when trying to stay low in his hips, limiting his movement skills. While his fast 40 time was impressive, his compact acceleration and long recovery speed are concerningly worse than his listed speed time. He\u2019s a step behind plays at points and will allow wideouts to work through too much space before he closes out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His awareness of intermediate coverage is rough as plays develop. He gets dragged by the quarterback\u2019s eyes too often and moved out of his alignment. Ransaw needs to communicate better in the defensive backfield to adjust to options and play action. He doesn\u2019t have the strength to control the run game and often tries to just use shock force to generate pushback. He gets swung around too easily when trying to disengage from blockers and struggles to stand his ground on the edge.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Potential Team Fits:\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/bills\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Buffalo Bills<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/panthers\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carolina Panthers<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/raiders\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Las Vegas Raiders<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>NFL Projection:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ransaw is a solid Group of 5 prospect, but in the grand scheme of things isn\u2019t a top defensive back option. In a word, he\u2019s depth. He won\u2019t be a true liability in shorter doses and should be a decent \u201cchange-of-pace\u201d defender. His versatility lets him fit in a plethora of defensive schemes and he should at least offer some special teams upside.
