Who knows what team he’ll end up signing with next? Jared Dubin of CBS Sports listed the Indianapolis Colts as a possible landing spot:

“The Colts have seemingly been rotating a million tight ends for years. Are they really getting everything they need out of guys like Mo Alie-Cox (who is now a free agent), Kylen Granson (same), Jelani Woods, and Will Mallory? Probably not. So why not give Engram a call and see if he can help Anthony Richardson on the quick-game throws that have been an issue for him to date?”

The tight end position is one of the Colts’ biggest weaknesses. With that said, signing Evan Engram would make a ton of sense for the team. We’ll see if he remains in the AFC South and heads to Indianapolis this offseason.

Indianapolis Colts Listed as a Landing Spot for Pro Bowl Tight End Evan Engram

Looking Back at His Career

The New York Giants selected Evan Engram 23rd overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. He finished his rookie year with 64 receptions for 722 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He was also named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

In 2020, Engram caught 63 passes for 654 yards and a touchdown. The former Ole Miss Star was named to his first career Pro Bowl that season.

After spending his first five seasons in New York, Engram signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in March 2022. During the 2023 season, Engram had 114 catches and 963 receiving yards (both career-highs) to go along with four touchdowns. As a result, he made his second career Pro Bowl. He played only nine games last season due to injury.

Should the Colts Sign Him?

In 2024, the Colts’ tight end room consisted of Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree, Will Mallory, and Jelani Woods. Woods didn’t play, though, missing his second straight year due to injury.

The tight ends who did play last season combined for only 39 catches for 467 yards, and two touchdowns. Granson led the group with 14 receptions for 182 yards and zero touchdowns.

Needless to say, the Colts need to add a playmaking tight end to their roster. Many mock drafts have the team taking Penn State’s Tyler Warren in this April’s NFL Draft. Warren is considered the top tight-end prospect in the draft and could turn out to be a superstar. However, there’s no guarantee that he’ll be available when the Colts pick at No. 14.

Indianapolis should consider signing Evan Engram. He’s a two-time Pro Bowler who could emerge as an impact player if he bounces back from his injury-plagued 2024 season.

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson has been far from impressive since entering the NFL in 2023. The Florida native completed less than 48 percent of his passes last year. Richardson needs to improve quite a bit to develop into Indy’s franchise quarterback. Having a solid tight end like Engram to pass to could certainly help Richardson’s development. Engram, teaming with receivers like Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs, would give the Colts an intriguing pass-catching group in 2025.

Main Image: Clark Wade – USA Today Sports

Tight end Evan Engram, who was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, could wind up with the Indianapolis Colts.

[12
1692,7800
post-221561","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colts","tag-evan-engram","tag-indianapolis-colts-news
["GET
