Whether you won a high-stakes fantasy championship or are a recreational player who won your home league, be proactive. The NFL calendar is year-round. Savvy fantasy players are on top of past season results, coaching movement, and free agency. The targeted focus today will again be on wide receiver positional trends and data. It is a grind but necessary for the best chance to build a championship roster for the 2025 fantasy season. We identified two fantasy wide receivers, who just two years ago were slam dunk first round draft selections. The landscape has changed and they may no longer have the same draft stature.

Fantasy Wide Receiver Takeaways From The 2024 Season; Part 2

Is Tyreek Hill Still A First Round Fantasy Wide Receiver In 2025?

Tyreek Hill has been a no doubt first round fantasy wide receiver for multiple years, but last year’s data might be telling us otherwise. Hill entered the 2024 season draft season as the overall WR4 with an ADP of eight. He did not return first round value finishing the season as just the overall PPR WR18. His receiving metrics were even more glaring. Hill finished with career lows in yards per route run and yards after catch per reception. Very telling considering Hill is known for his big-play ability.

Despite playing in all 17 games, Hill garnered 48 fewer targets and 38 fewer receptions than the year prior. Now, to be fair, part of that is due to the starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa playing in just 11 games. Looking further, we found a dip in the Miami Dolphins passing game angle that hurt Hill. In 2022 and 2023 Tagovailoa’s percentage of throws that traveled 2o or more yards were 13.8% and 11.2% respectively. That number dropped to an NFL-low 6% in 2024.

The fantasy wide receiver takeaway here is twofold. Do you consider last year an outlier for Hill and buy the dip on his current second round ADP of 22.3 or is this the start of a decline? Last season’s 12.8 fantasy points per game were his lowest since his rookie year. It could be time to let your league mates draft him. It is always better to be a year early than a year late on a fantasy player.

Has Cooper Kupp Fallen Off The Fantasy Cliff?

Either negative regression has set in, or is Cooper Kupp a fantasy wide receiver on the decline? The data is telling us it is the latter of the two. Kupp finished last season ranked outside the top 36 as the overall PPR WR38. In the past two seasons, he posted his career worst yards per route run rates. According to PFF, Kupp ranked 46 out of possible 84 eligible wideouts in receiving grade. Since his all-world season of 2021, where he averaged 25.9 fantasy points a game, Kupp has played in just 33 of a possible 51 games.

The fantasy wide receiver takeaway is a bit muddled with the uncertainty around where Kupp will play next season. If Kupp can stay healthy and goes to a team with the potential to draw a hefty target share, he will smash his current ADP of 92.4. On the flip side, he could end up going to a team with two established wide receivers and finish again in the WR3/4 range. We should get some clarity very soon with the legal tampering period beginning March 10 at noon.

Main Image: Jasen Vinlove – USA Today Sports

2024 Fantasy takeaways rolls on today with more wide receiver trends to help guide you to a fantasy championship in 2025.

[59
1920,3019,297
post-220705","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-fantasy","tag-cooper-kupp","tag-fantasy-football-draft","tag-tyreek-hill
["GET
