Injuries didn’t help their case, but the offense from the season’s first two weeks was an anomaly. Alvin Kamara remained the centerpiece throughout the season and was the only fantasy-relevant player in the offense. This is the dynasty outlook for Alvin Kamara as he enters his age 30 season.

Alvin Kamara: Dynasty Outlook for Aging Saints Running Back

Current Production

The Saints were more reliant than ever on Kamara in 2024. He reached a career-high 950 rushing yards while still heavily involved in the passing game as usual. Despite missing three games, his 68 receptions led the team. Kamara started the season on fire; he was the RB1 in fantasy through the first four weeks but cooled off a bit as the season went on.

He still finished as the RB5 in points per game, so it was an excellent fantasy season overall. Kamara’s issue is that the Saints used Taysom Hill quite a bit on the goal line, which took away some of his touchdown potential. He only scored six rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns, but his pass-catching gave him a high floor.

Kamara Dynasty Price

Kamara is currently ranked as the RB25 in dynasty on KeepTradeCut. That ranking is about the same as it was coming into the 2024 season, but his excellent start saw him shoot up as high as RB12. His ranking quickly dipped as the Saints season fell apart, and it didn’t help that Kamara missed the season’s final three weeks with an adductor injury.

Kamara’s age has a significant impact on his price. He’s a perennial top-10 fantasy running back, but how long can he keep it going? His skill set is so different from other running backs that he may be able to produce at a high level for longer. Kamara is certainly attainable in dynasty leagues, but giving up any young prospects for him would be a risk. A few names he’s ranked near on KeepTradeCut include Brian Robinson, Khalil Shakir, and Keon Coleman.

Kamara Dynasty Outlook

If there were ever a year to give hope to Kamara owners, it would be 2024. Derrick Henry, Joe Mixon, James Conner, and Aaron Jones all produced as high-volume running backs aged 28 or older. Kamara will look to continue that trend in 2025, but one vital difference is holding him back. All of those players play on far better offenses than Kamara. The Saints are heavily reliant on him, which is great for volume, and volume is king in fantasy, but he will start slowing down at some point.

Kamara signed a two-year extension in October and stated that he wants to retire in New Orleans. Kendre Miller stepped up as the starter during Kamara’s absence and is a player the organization is high on. Miller is only 22, and all signs point to him being the starter within the next few years. Kamara is still the undisputed RB1 on the team, but don’t be surprised to see his role pivot more and more to receiving rather than rushing.

What to Do With Alvin Kamara in Dynasty Leagues

If your team is on the older side and competing, keep Kamara. If not, he’s still valuable enough to trade away for a few second or third-round picks. 2025 could very well be his last season of top-10 production, and even then, he’s handicapped by the Saints offense.

Main Photo: Stephen Lew – Imagn Images

After a promising start with a rejuvenated offense, the New Orleans Saints quickly fell back down to earth.
