He’s turned his lifelong passion as a fan into a career through the use of his music, sarcasm, and knowledge of the team. Like most fans, Jefe doesn’t have the highest expectations heading into 2025, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be there for fans on his podcast and YouTube channel.

With that said, he believes there are some things that Joe Schoen and company can do that can set the team up for the future. His earliest memories of being a Giants fan are found through family pictures. He said that you’re “born into the team you love,” while explaining pictures of him wearing a Lawrence Taylor jersey and a dangly Giants helmet in his early childhood.

As he got older, he quickly learned that Sundays were for watching the team play and his dad infamously yelling at the TV- for both good and moments that he didn’t quite fully understand at the time. Even as he was learning the game and connecting with his father, Jefe knew that, “the world stopped on Sundays,” for the Giants. Years later, as he transitioned from child to a father for children of his own, nothing has changed. The Giants still rule Sundays.

Jefe’s Highs and Lows

Sure, the Giants have the league’s third-worst 63-116-1 record since 2014. The decade has featured consequential decisions from multiple front-office regimes. It has been marked by heartbreaking losses and moments of infamy in the national spotlight.

However, the fact remains that most Giants fans have seen at least two Super Bowl runs in their lifetime that shaped their fandom. Jefe remembers and relishes those memories. In fact, he credits his marriage to his all-time favorite player Victor Cruz. The peak of his fandom was watching his then-girlfriend mimic Cruz’s famous salsa dance touchdown celebration in Super Bowl 46. He said things were starting to get serious and his friend turned to him during a commercial break and affirmed to Jefe that she was the one for him. To Jefe, one of the biggest changes going from fan to content creator is that no matter the situation on the field- good or bad- he said his mind instantly asks, “How can I turn this into a video or sketch?”

The output on his social media and podcast is certainly therapeutic for him and the heart of it all is its authenticity. The team is linked to several free agents, and rumors of a potential Matthew Stafford trade are heating up.

If it were up to Jefe, the Giants would ideally match a veteran free agent with Miami (FL) quarterback, Cam Ward. While he believes Ward isn’t a surefire prospect, he loves the tangibles he brings physically to the position: his pocket presence and arm strength being the most glaring. Jefe believes only certain players are built for New York, and Ward is one of them.

He claimed that from what he knows, Ward “wants to work,” and “seems focused,” on being nothing more than the best player he can be. Well, Jefe isn’t buying it. He said a trade for Stafford would help him buy into the 2025 season and give the Giants some immediate relevance but begs a bigger question: what’s the long-term goal for the franchise? He questions if it’s worth giving any assets at all, let alone a top-end asset, for a 37-year-old quarterback with an injury history.

According to Jefe, what’s more realistic is that the Giants target free-agent Justin Fields and design an offense around his skillset. He already showed promise in Pittsburgh and even won some games for them in 2024. Not only do the Giants have a tough schedule in 2025, but they also have a roster that lacks depth in key areas.

According to Jefe, the main pieces on the Giants roster are Malik Nabers, Dexter Lawrence, and Andrew Thomas when healthy. Beyond that, he feels like it would be best for a new face to come in and reconstruct the team. He’s tired of “desperate people doing “desperate jobs,” and yearns for a fresh regime to come in and build a team for sustained success.

In addition, Jefe is nervous that Schoen and Daboll will make short-term decisions at the cost of long-term success.
