These are designed to help you formulate your 2025 draft plan. Whether you won a high-stakes fantasy championship or are a recreational player who won your home league, you need to be proactive. The NFL calendar is year-round, and savvy fantasy players are on top of past season results, coaching movement, and free agency. We will begin with fantasy quarterback takeaways from the 2024 season and use this data to look at potential targets at the position.

2024 Fantasy Takeaways from the Quarterback Position

Fantasy Takeaway: Will Bryce Young’s Second Half Success Lead To 2025 Breakout?

Bryce Young’s second-half finish in 2024 may qualify him as a perfect candidate for fantasy owners who like to wait on drafting the position. Young finished the season as just the overall QB20, but from week 8 on, he graded out as a top-six fantasy quarterback. He returned as the Carolina Panthers starting quarterback in week 8, and over that period, he averaged 18.3 fantasy points per game with 15 touchdown passes and just six interceptions. On top of that, he had six rushing touchdowns, which we know is huge for fantasy quarterback production. To put that per-game average in perspective, his 18.3 weekly average would have been Bo Nix, last season’s QB11.

The Panther’s off-season will be a big factor because Young needs upgrades at wide receiver. We think Jalen Coker can be a piece, his 14.9 yards per catch led all Carolina receivers. Coker established himself as the clear WR2 in 2024 behind Adam Thielen. Speaking of Thielen, he did a decent job as the Panther’s top option, with 62 catches and five scores. That being said, none of those wide receivers mentioned strike fear into opposing defensive coordinators. The run game is in good hands with Chubba Hubbard, who finished as the overall PPR RB13. If Carolina can add a legit Aplha wide receiver, Young will be a great value at QB23.

Fantasy Takeaway: Does Kyler Murray Still Possess the Cheat Code

Kyler Murray entered the NFL possessing the all-important fantasy quarterback cheat code: rushing prowess. However, that began to somewhat disappear as the 2024 season progressed. First, let us look at his rushing attempts. Since 2020, Murray has seen his rush attempts per game decline. During that season, he was at 8.3 attempts per game, and that number has declined yearly. In 2024, Murray’s rush attempts dropped to just 4.6 a game.

Next, the Arizona Cardinals’ playcalling began to change in the latter part of the 2024 season. In the first ten weeks, their pass rate and neutral pass rate hovered around the 50% mark. After week 10, the Cardinals jumped to above the 60% mark in both categories. So, as we begin to formulate our 2025 draft plans, we have to now consider Murray as less of a running threat. In 202o, at 8.3 rushing attempts per game, Murray finished as the overall QB3, and in 2024, at 4.6 attempts, he was the QB18.

Now, we do have to take into account the knee injury Murray sustained in December of 2022. However, the fact remains we need to contemplate where he fits into the 2025 fantasy QB1 conversation. Early 2025 re-draft rankings have Murray going off the board as overall QB10 with an ADP of 82.4. At that price tag, Murray will be worth the pick. He has a solid run game, a legit WR1 in Marvin Harrison Jr., and the overall TE2 Trey McBride. Next season might be a great opportunity for us to buy the dip on the Arizona Cardinals offense!

Main Photo: [Mark J.
