Baltimore Ravens star kicker Justin Tucker is under fire after a series of sexual misconduct allegations, and some believe the team will release him. As of this posting, 10 Baltimore-area massage therapists<\/a> have accused the kicker of inappropriate behavior, and that number could grow with time.<\/p>\n

As repulsive as these accusations are, the NFL is a business and the Ravens might not release Justin Tucker if they deem his off-field missteps don’t overshadow his on-field production. However, the five-time All-Pro struggled in 2024, connecting on a career-low 73.3% of his field goal attempts while seemingly lacking the same unmatched leg strength from earlier in his career.<\/p>\n

If these accusations are true, the Ravens will probably release Justin Tucker, but we shouldn’t expect an official move for a while. According to Mike Florio of\u00a0Pro Football Talk<\/em><\/a>, Baltimore probably won’t officially decide on Tucker’s fate until the start of the league year.<\/p>\n

Florio: Ravens Won’t Cut Justin Tucker Until March, At the Earliest<\/h2>\n

The reason for this, Florio states, is purely financial. By waiting until the start of the 2025 league year, Baltimore can release Justin Tucker and designate it as a post-June 1st transaction. This allows the Ravens to split his cap charge over two seasons and eases the financial burden on the organization.<\/p>\n

“Without a post-June 1 designation, releasing Tucker would trigger a cap charge of $7.4175 million for 2025,” Florio writes. “By waiting to activate the CBA rule that allows a team to sever ties while spreading the dead money over two years, the Ravens would take a $2.8725 million charge in 2025 and a $4.645 million charge in 2026.”<\/p>\n

It’s too early to make any sweeping declarations on Tucker’s future, but things aren’t looking good for the kicker. NFL teams will put up with anything short of murder<\/a> if a player helps their organization win (see: Watson, Deshaun<\/a>), but Tucker’s off-field issues combined with his disappointing play could spell the end of his NFL career.<\/p>\n
