The host was originally Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, but floods have delayed construction on the new stadium.<\/p>\n<h2>Tampa Bay\u00a0Will Host Super Bowl LV 2021<\/h2>\n<p>The next three Super Bowls will be in Minneapolis, Atlanta and Miami. Miami and New Orleans have each hosted the Super Bowl 10 times. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers played in their only Super Bowl in San Diego, which has hosted the Super Bowl three times.\u00a0Super Bowl LV\u00a0will be the fourth time that Tampa Bay\u00a0has hosted the Super Bowl. Two of those Super Bowls were not competitive but memorable because of a standout performance by an all-time great and one of the deepest defenses in NFL history.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the three Super Bowls that took place in Tampa.<\/p>\n<h3>Super Bowl XXV &#8211; 1991 New York Giants 20, Buffalo Bills 19<\/h3>\n<p>The New York Giants made it to the Super Bowl, but <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HostJe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jeff Hostetler<\/a><\/strong> was their quarterback instead of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SimmPh00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Phil Simms<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> (who was the Giants signal caller when they won it all in 1986).<\/span>\u00a0The Buffalo Bills were the more talented team\u00a0who had some serious offensive firepower\u00a0with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=KellJi00,KellJi02,KellJi01&amp;search=Jim+Kelly&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jim Kelly<\/a><\/strong> at quarterback, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/ThomTh00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thurman Thomas<\/a><\/strong> at running back and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/ReedAn00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andre Reed<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LoftJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">James Lofton<\/a><\/strong> at wide receiver. They were also led by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=SmitBr00,SmitBr24&amp;search=Bruce+Smith&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bruce Smith<\/a><\/strong> on defense.<\/p>\n<p>Smith had the top play in the first half of the game when he sacked Hostetler in the end zone for a safety, which put the Bills ahead 12-3 in the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p>The Giants scored two touchdowns with a 14-yard touchdown catch from <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BakeSt00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephen Baker<\/a><\/strong> and a touchdown run from <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AndeOt00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ottis Anderson<\/a><\/strong>. With the Bills trailing 17-12 in the fourth quarter, Thomas ran for a 31-yard touchdown. Thomas was the star of the game with 135 rushing yards, 55 receiving yards and one rushing touchdown. But Giants kicker <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/bahrxmat01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Bahr<\/a><\/strong> won the game with a 21-yard field goal, his second of the game.<\/p>\n<p>This Super Bowl\u00a0was also known for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/super-bowl\/history\/1991\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Whitney Houston&#8217;s National Anthem<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Super Bowl XVIII &#8211; 1984 Los Angeles Raiders 38, Washington Redskins 9<\/h3>\n<p>The Raiders had notable players like <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LongHo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Howie Long<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HayeLe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lester Hayes<\/a><\/strong> on defense and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PlunJi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jim Plunkett<\/a><\/strong> at quarterback. They had to knock off the Redskins who were looking to repeat as champions after their win over the Miami Dolphins for the first championship in their franchise.<\/p>\n<p>The Redskins had a young <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GreeDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darrell Green<\/a><\/strong> on defense and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TheiJo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe Theismann<\/a><\/strong> at quarterback. Running back <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RiggJo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Riggins<\/a><\/strong> won the Super Bowl MVP for the Redskins and he ran behind a great offensive line with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GrimRu00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Russ Grimm<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/J\/JacoJo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe Jacoby<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BostJe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jeff Bostic<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But the star of the game was running back\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AlleMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marcus Allen<\/a><\/strong>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/boxscores\/198401220rai.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Allen<\/a> had the defining moment of his career by running the ball 20 times for 191 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. If Allen was a borderline Hall of Famer, that performance put him in.<\/p>\n<h3>Super Bowl XXXV &#8211; 2000 Baltimore Ravens 34, New York Giants 7<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BarbTi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tiki Barber<\/a><\/strong> was just entering the prime of his career and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SharSh00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shannon Sharpe<\/a><\/strong> was close to the end. The best offensive player was probably Ravens left tackle <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/O\/OgdeJo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Ogden<\/a><\/strong>.
