After giving a glowing report on his adopted hometown and even giving Schefter some restaurant recommendations, Brees was asked about a potential return to his former team.

After noticing that Brees would always use the term “we” when referring to the Saints, Schefter pressed him on it:

“You say ‘we,’ and you are such a part of that city and that franchise. Will you ever have a role, an official role, on that team one day?”

“I don’t know, we’ll see” Brees replied, with a wide smile appearing on his face. The idea clearly brings out some feelings of joy for the former Super Bowl winner.

Brees continued: “Look, it’s in my blood, it always will be, I’m always gonna be a Saint.”

“So whether it’s direct or indirect, I will always say ‘we.'”

“That’s my team, my organization from the perspective that I just take so much pride in what we built and what we accomplished. I’m always a resource to help and I’ll always be there to support.”

Legendary QB @drewbrees has thoughts on the Saints and what they should do to fill their head coaching vacancy.

🎧 https://t.co/uFLdwwOukt pic.twitter.com/DTdLIB2mTh

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 28, 2025

Whether or not Brees does someday return to the Saints in an official capacity, it’s clear that he still has immense love for the city of New Orleans and its football team. A love that is undoubtedly reciprocated amongst its fanbase.

On Whether the Saints Have Reached Out Regarding Next Head Coach

With the Saints now the only team in the NFL without a head coach in place, Schefter was naturally curious about Brees’ thoughts on the matter. When asked if he’d spoken to the Saints franchise regarding the search, Brees grinned and replied:

“I always have conversations. I have conversations with everybody in that organization about any number of topics.”

Knowing that he’d done a terrible job of hiding his involvement, Brees laughed: “I lend my expertise or recommendations when asked.”

Brees revealed his thoughts on the Saints’ head coach search, but it would seem he knows more than he was willing to share with the NFL insider. His positive demeanor though, suggests that he’s happy with where the Saints are, which should comfort worried Saints fans for now.

Main Photo: Stephen Lew – Imagn Images

Legendary Saints quarterback Drew Brees appeared on “The Adam Schefter Podcast” this week (Tues.
