Below is an in-depth scouting report and analysis of the standout Kentucky defensive tackle.

Overview and 2025 Scouting Report Of Kentucky DT Deone Walker

Measurables:

Height: 6’7″

Weight: 340 lbs

2025 Reese's Senior Bowl Measurements.
✅ Verified.#TheDraftStartsInMOBILE™️ pic.twitter.com/FSxyWAcscu

— Reese's Senior Bowl (@seniorbowl) January 27, 2025

Player Background:

A Detroit native with a basketball background, Deone Walker was rated as a four-star prospect in high school and was already a force on the defensive line. Choosing to attend Kentucky because it “felt like home,” Walker quickly established himself as a key contributor on defense for the Wildcats. As a true freshman, Walker recorded 40 tackles, five quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, and a forced fumble. In his sophomore season, he was named a team captain, leading the Wildcats with 55 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and eight QB hurries. This past season, Walker totaled 37 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Accolades:

2022: PFF All-SEC Second Team; First-team Freshman All-American (CFN); PFF College All-True Freshman Team

2023: First-Team All-SEC Defense (AP, Phil Steele, PFF); All-American

2024: Honorable Mention All-SEC (CFN); Third-Team All-SEC, Defensive Line (Coaches, Phil Steele); Second-Team All-SEC (AP)

Strengths/Pros:

Exceptional size and power

Agile and light on his feet

Versatile as a 1-tech or 3-tech

Natural block-shedding and play-disrupting ability

Outstanding run defender

Weaknesses/Cons:

Struggles with consistency during games

Tends to play with high pad level

Inconsistent hand placement

Challenges against double teams

NFL Projection:

Deone Walker is one of the most physically gifted athletes that college football has to offer. His impressive combination of size, weight, and abilities make him one of the most intriguing draft prospects in 2025. His dominance as a pass rusher in 2023 didn’t carry on to 2024, but Walker’s abilities to get to the backfield as well as stop the run are second to none. It’s truly unreal how easily Walker gets downfield compared to other guys similar in weight.

Walker also displays a surprisingly wide range of pass rush moves, with a refined swim move he’ll pull out from time to time. Kentucky also decided it was a good idea to drop Walker back in coverage on some plays, where he shockingly made a huge impact. A run-stuffing monster, Walker does have some drawbacks.

It appears Walker has some trouble converting speed to power, and lacks that explosiveness you’d like to see in defensive linemen. His tendency to play with a high pad level makes him susceptible to being neutralized by offensive linemen. And another limitation Walker must improve on in the NFL is beating double teams, which he had a relatively hard time with in college.

In the NFL, Walker will thrive as a 3-tech where he’ll have the ability to rush the passer and stay away from double teams. His special physical traits combined with unreal size will certainly push Walker up a lot of draft boards. With proper coaching, he can become one of the top defensive tackles in the NFL.

Deone Walker’s tape is NIGHTMARE FUEL 🤯

Imagine having to block a 6’6, 350lb d-lineman who can play as a standup edge rusher… pic.twitter.com/44BWBzS1r7

— NFL Draft Files (@NFL_DF) May 13, 2024

Potential Team Fits:

Kansas City Chiefs

Baltimore Ravens

Chicago Bears

Los Angeles Chargers

NFL Comparison:

Jordan Davis

Prospect Grade:

Late First/Early Second Round

Main Image: Petre Thomas – USA Today Sports

Overview and scouting report of 2025 NFL Draft prospect Kentucky DT Deone Walker, a man amongst men with unreal physical traits.

[1647
32605,7642,7403,7811,33170,33237,7638,27083
post-213259","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-draft","tag-2025-nfl-draft","tag-chargers-featured","tag-chicago-bears-news","tag-chiefs-featured","tag-deone-walker","tag-kentucky-wildcats","tag-ravens-featured","tag-scouting-report
["GET
