A product of the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, Kubiak left the San Francisco 49ers to be the Saints offensive coordinator in 2024. Gary Kubiak’s son set the world on fire early in the season, replacing former offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael’s scheme with inspired passing concepts.

While his first year in New Orleans was a positive one, it could be his only year with the team. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kubiak will have a second interview with the Seattle Seahawks for their vacant offensive coordinator position, which means the Saints could be on their third offensive coordinator since Derek Carr joined the team. While the hire is not official, Nick Underhill of New Orleans Football added that “momentum is building” for Kubiak to Seattle.

The #Seahawks are doing a second, in-person interview with #Saints OC Klint Kubiak on Friday, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo.

Kubiak, who also interviewed for the #Browns job, is one of the top OC candidates available. pic.twitter.com/GmuoecG2st

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 16, 2025

Saints Could Lose Klint Kubiak to Seattle Seahawks

As mentioned above, Klint Kubiak was one of the biggest names in sports early in the Saints season. Guiding the team to two dominant victories to begin the season, Kubiak’s squad couldn’t maintain their elite performances as the season progressed. Did the league catch up to Kubiak’s scheme, or was it simply impossible for a coach to build a good offense with a terrible offensive line, Spencer Rattler at quarterback, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling as the top wide receiver?

New Orleans suffered an absurd amount of injuries last year, and nobody should blame Klint Kubiak for the late-season collapse. However, with Dennis Allen fired and a new head coach set to bring in their own staff, nobody should be surprised to see Kubiak leave for greener pastures.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald fired former offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb after one season. With a scheme best suited for the college game, Grubb’s absence means that Kubiak could join a more stable organization with exciting, young playmakers. Geno Smith and Derek Carr are in the same tier of quarterbacks, but D.K. Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are a more exciting group of wide receivers than Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.

Main Photo: Stephen Lew – USA Today Sports

New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak will likely leave the team and join the Seattle Seahawks.

[28,32
231,8741,7659,7282
post-210754","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-saints","category-seahawks","tag-derek-carr","tag-klint-kubiak","tag-saints-featured","tag-seattle-seahawks-news
["GET
