The Top-200 national recruit appeared in three contests his freshman year, maintaining his redshirt and using it at the season’s conclusion. He started seven of the team’s eight games in the COVID-shortened 2020 season, making 17 tackles and two tackles for loss. He played in all 12 games in 2021, racking up 27 tackles, four TFLs, and his first two collegiate sacks.

Robinson was one of the team’s best defensive players during his 2022 campaign, making 24 tackles with another four TFLs and two sacks in 12 starts. He continued to produce through the 2023 season, making 29 tackles with four TFLs, a sack, and four pass breakups. His best collegiate season was also his last, taking his game to a new level in 2024. He set career-highs across the board with 37 tackles, 12 TFLs, seven sacks, and a blocked field goal.

Accolades:

Honorable-Mention All-Big Ten (2023)

Second-Team All-Big Ten (2024)

Strengths/Pros:

Despite his massive stature, Robinson absolutely launches out of his stance and gets immediate leverage with a sharp first step. He engages incredibly fast at the line and moves really well when driving into the backfield. His momentum remains similar in both three-point and four-point stances, allowing him to be a versatile weapon on the defensive line and set up in a plethora of alignments. He’s played a ton of snaps at Nebraska and knows what to expect from different schemes because of his experience.

Robinson has fantastic overall athleticism. He routinely works through different angles to win reps and put himself in favorable positions. His feet are quick and powerful on the inside, pushing through interior gaps and staying active. He re-adjusts well after initial leverage wins, and he changes direction to hawk down ball carriers and plug holes at the line. His bull rush is solid, maintaining a forward drive and closing the pocket extremely fast.

Weaknesses/Cons:

The biggest holes in Robinson’s game come from his very odd build and natural inability to keep a low pad level. He’s built more vertically than most defensive linemen, can’t sink into his anchor very well because of it, and struggles against compact interior offensive linemen. His movement skills decline significantly when asked to move laterally and he doesn’t work across the line of scrimmage with much fluidity.

His hands are very ineffective in larger doses. They aren’t swift, and he doesn’t use them in calculated ways. The placement of his hands is too varied, prioritizing simply making contact over strategically going after vulnerable spots. Robinson tries to win with violence too often rather than attacking with a legitimate pass-rushing plan. He needs to finish pass rush wins more. He will get initial leverage but frequently can’t fully get past the OL to finish plays.

Potential Team Fits:

New England Patriots

Miami Dolphins

New York Jets

NFL Projection:

Robinson is an interesting case study, to say the least. His frame doesn’t allow him to be a consistent presence against the run, but it’s impossible to deny his raw pass-rushing skills. With that being said, he projects best as a depth lineman who offers pass-rush upside to an interior rotation. His skill set is that of a Day 3 lottery ticket, a prospect that could make a decent impact down the line if he can increase the complexity and stability of his pass-rush plan and technique.

Prospect Grade:

Mid 5th Round

Film Exposures:

2024 vs. Colorado

2024 vs. Indiana

2024 vs. Wisconsin

Main Image: Dylan Widger – USA Today Sports

Overview And Film Analysis Of 2025 NFL Draft Prospect And Nebraska DL Ty Robinson, A Quick And Feisty Interior Defender.

[1647
32605,32710,33088,27083,33145
post-209707","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-draft","tag-2025-nfl-draft","tag-nebraska-cornhuskers","tag-nebraska-football","tag-scouting-report","tag-ty-robinson
["GET
