Two-year starting quarterback Jalen Milroe has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. Milroe brings with him a fascinating skillset that is sure to intrigue teams and fans throughout the upcoming draft process. Evaluating his game is a scouting litmus test, one in which the beholder’s values become very clear on whatever side of ‘good’ they place him. When attempting to look at the tape as objectively as possible, a Jalen Milroe scouting report emerges in which the quarterback’s draft outlook has a wide array of possibilities.

Overview, Film Analysis, and Early 2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report of Alabama Quarterback Jalen Milroe

Measurables

Height: 6′ 2″

Weight: 225

Jalen Milroe Player Background

Hailing from Katy, Texas, Jalen Milroe emerged from high school as a four-star recruit. Initially committing to play for the Texas Longhorns, Milroe decommitted in the summer of 2020. Immediately following this decision, he declared his intention to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide, where he has remained ever since.

Appearing sparsely in 2021 and 2022 behind Bryce Young, Milroe took over as the starter in 2023. He led the Crimson Tide to a one-loss season, capitalized by an overtime playoff loss to the eventual national champion. Posting very respectable stats, headlined by 23 passing touchdowns, hopes were high for Milroe’s senior season.

These hopes were dashed early in the year, as a loss to Vanderbilt derailed an otherwise promising start to the season. The Crimson Tide ultimately failed to recover, missing the college football playoffs in a year when the field had expanded. Milroe’s stats remained relatively steady compared to the year prior, but his status as a draft prospect increasingly became the focus. All of this information comes together to assist in forming a Jalen Milroe scouting report.

Strengths

When evaluating Jalen Milroe, it becomes immediately clear that he is a special athlete at the quarterback position. It is difficult to assign him a true player comparison in that regard, given that his blend of straight-line speed, size, and lateral quickness is unique for the position. Milroe capitalized in this department both on designed reads, usually offering Milroe a read option, and on scrambles.

As a passer, Milroe’s deep ball is his biggest strength. There are a number of times on his Georgia and Oklahoma tapes where he builds upon numerous big-time throws. He has enough arm to put these deep balls in a position where his players can make plays, all while keeping the ball out of harm’s way. There are very few throws he cannot make and he has ample arm strength that should translate to the NFL level.

Milroe also demonstrates some very translatable pocket traits. When he is in the grasp, there are enough instances of him finishing a play to where his in-the-grasp play can be considered a strength. There is also an impressive awareness and escapability he is also to exhibit when pressure comes through up the middle of the formation.

Weaknesses

As a passer, Milroe seems to struggle a bit with some of the mechanical aspects of the position, His feet are often misaligned with his target, and it does impact the placement on many short to intermediate throws. He is at times slow through his reads on shorter to intermediate concepts as well. He is slow to identify when man-beaters like mesh concepts get their desired looks, and it impacts the effectiveness of his quick game.

In the red zone, Milroe does have a tendency to lock on to first reads. This resulted in a couple of forced interceptions, evident on plays like his red zone interception against Tennessee.

There has also been some talk about Milroe possibly tipping run/pass with his foot placement pre-snap. This is simply a negligent issue. While easily correctable, it may say more that it has not already been remedied.

Potential Team Fits

New York Jets

New York Giants

Las Vegas Raiders

NFL Projection

Jalen Milroe is the epitome of a high-risk, high-reward prospect. The current NFL landscape is very welcoming to mobile quarterbacks. Jalen Milroe is an elite producer in that aspect. Coupled with his arm talent, there is absolutely a path to stardom for the signal caller in the right offense. However, there are a number of issues with Milroe’s game that make it seem more likely that he is a project player throughout his career. Milroe projects as a day-one pick due to his upside and an abundance of teams hurting at the position. It will take a coach up for a challenge to get the most out of Milroe’s talents; because they are plentiful.

Main Image: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images

With needs at the quarterback position atop the 2025 NFL draft board, here is an Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe scouting report.

[1647
1674,32826,848,92
post-209530","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-draft","tag-alabama-crimson-tide","tag-jalen-milroe","tag-las-vegas-raiders","tag-new-york-giants
["GET
