The difference is that ownership can make huge decisions determining the team’s future, and fans must sit back and watch it unfold. After losing nine straight games, the 2024 Giants are currently 2-12, averaging 14.9 PPG. The last time the Giants were a two-win team was 1972 when they averaged 13.9 points per game.

Being an NFL owner requires considering every angle, including both sides of this situation. A revolving door of head coaches doesn’t always lead to future success. Look at the Pittsburgh Steelers; they have only had three head coaches in the last 50 years, yet they have been a continuously successful franchise.

Listening to Darius Slayton post-game, he talked about seeing two different coaching staffs get fired and knowing the vibe and emotions inside the locker room when the end is near. He said, “It just doesn’t feel like there is going to be any changes made, which is fine.”

https://twitter.com/snygiants/status/1868451359751622980?s=12

New York Giants Ownership Has A Decision To Make As We Close In On The End of the Season.

Brian Daboll has been the Head Coach of the Giants since 2022. Daboll’s record as Head Coach with the Giants is 17-30-1 in the regular season and 1-1 in the playoffs. Daboll’s first season in 2022 was the Giants’ first winning season since 2016 and their first playoff appearance since then.

With three games left in the season, Giants owners John Mara and Steve Tisch have many critical decisions ahead. In addition to the future of General Manager Joe Schoen, they need to decide on Daboll. Has Daboll had enough time, or does he deserve to be fired as we near the end of the season?

A few weeks ago, the Giants released Jones, ending a previous regime and allowing both sides, respectively, to move on. Schoen and Daboll were a part of Jones’ extension last spring; however, Jones was not drafted under either of them, and the two have yet to draft a quarterback together.

One could argue that Daboll needs more time because he didn’t pick his quarterback. He came in and had quarterback Daniel Jones under center as Jones was the sixth overall pick chosen by General Manager Dave Gettleman and Head Coach Pat Shurmur in 2019. Daniel Jones could have been holding Daboll back, especially with the offense that fit around Jones.

A Top Draft Pick is at Stake

The odds are a 44.9% chance the Giants will pick No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. According to Tankathon, the Giants currently have the No. 1 overall pick, with the Raiders at No. 2 before their Monday night game against the Falcons. If the Raiders lose, they will move into the first pick again with three games remaining in the regular season.

If the Giants fire Daboll now or at the end of the season, they will bring in a new head coach to assist with who they select in the draft. This hypothetical new head coach will work alongside Schoen if he keeps his position or work with a new general manager. Whoever makes this pick needs to be someone the organization trusts going forward. You want the right guy(s) in the building making this pick.

One option is for ownership to let one or both Daboll and Schoen go, which is tough to argue against if they decide to do so. Fans haven’t been given anything to cheer for, let alone show up for games anymore. While winless at home this season (0-8), the Giants are averaging the fewest PPG by any team at home (10.1) since the Cleveland Browns in 2000 (9.9). If the Giants lose their last home game of the season versus the Colts, they will become the first team in league history to go winless at home – 0-9.

Other NFL Head Coaches Who Had a Bad Start But Turned It Around

The Detroit Lions are one of the league’s most dominant teams this year under four-year head coach Dan Campbell. Campbell became head coach of the Lions in 2021, where he went 12-21 in his first two seasons. Last season and this current season, Campbell has a winning record of 30-7, including two playoff wins last year.

Zac Taylor is in his sixth year as head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. In his first two years with quarterback Andy Dalton, Taylor went 6-25-1 before selecting Joe Burrow first overall in 2020. The Bengals were Super Bowl Champions two years later, their first since 1988.

Regardless of who the Giants head coach is in 2025, we can all agree on one thing: we have to win games. The past decade of losing seasons needs to end; it’s time to be relevant again.

Main Image: Vincent Carchietta – USA Today Sports

Should the New York Giants fire Head Coach Brian Daboll, or should he get the chance to draft a quarterback?

[20,54
3472,7300
post-204583","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-giants","category-editorials","tag-brian-daboll","tag-new-york-giants-news
["GET
