With that comes the long wait and the speculation of depth chart spots, and who will be battling for jobs and roster spots in training camp. We will try to highlight the positions to watch for with the first Steelers 53-man roster projection. If the NFL season were to start next week, these are the 53 guys that the Steelers should carry. The names will be listed alphabetically by position.<\/p>\n<h2>Pittsburgh Steelers 53-man Roster Projection Post Draft<\/h2>\n<h3>Quarterbacks (3): <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/joshua-dobbs-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joshua Dobbs<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/J\/JoneLa02.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Landry Jones<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RoetBe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Roethlisberger<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Steelers immediately cut <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MettZa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zach Mettenberger<\/a> following the NFL draft. The three who are making the team is clear as day, and the question in camp will be whether or not Dobbs can push Jones for the backup job.<\/p>\n<h3>Running backs (3): <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BellLe00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Le\u2019Veon Bell<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/james-conner-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">James Conner<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DaviKn00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Knile Davis<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Conner is a power back and Davis is a faster, pass catching type. Davis can also return kicks which makes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TousFi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fitzgerald Toussaint<\/a> very expendable.<\/p>\n<h3>Fullbacks (1): <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=NixxRo01,NixxRo20&amp;search=Roosevelt+Nix&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Roosevelt Nix<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Nix deserves his spot as a solid fullback and special teams performer.<\/p>\n<h3>Wide Receivers (6): <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=BrowAn04,BrowAn01&amp;search=Antonio+Brown&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Antonio Brown<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BryaMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Martavis Bryant<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CoatSa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sammie Coates<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HeywDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darrius Heyward-Bey<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RogeEl00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eli Rogers<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/juju-smith-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JuJu Smith-Schuster<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Steelers will hope to sneak DeMarcus Ayers on the practice squad one more time. However, he could make the team over Coates or Heyward-Bey. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HuntJu00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Justin Hunter<\/a> will have to beat out Coates for a shot and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HamiCo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cobi Hamilton<\/a> is as good as cut.<\/p>\n<h3>Tight Ends (3): <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GreeLa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ladarius Green<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=JameJe00,JameJe21&amp;search=Jesse+James&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jesse James<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=JohnDa05,JohnDa08&amp;search=David+Johnson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Johnson<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This will be a tough decision as to whether or not to keep three or four tight ends. However, in drafting a receiver over tight end they have to feel a little more comfortable in Green\u2019s future than Bryant\u2019s. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GrimXa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Xavier Grimble<\/a> could sneak onto the roster but he will have to beat out one of the wide receiver, cornerback or linebacker options.<\/p>\n<h3>Offensive Line (8): <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DeCaDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David DeCastro<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GilbMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marcus Gilbert<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FinnB.01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">B.J. Walton<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Jon Maxey, Lavon Hooks, and Roy Philon are practice squad options, but it would be an upset to see any of them beat out McCullers or Walton for a roster spot.<\/p>\n<h3>Linebackers (5): <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FortL.00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">L.J. Watt<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The question in training camp will be Chickillo vs. Moats and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/keion-adams-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keion Adams<\/a>. Adams is the recent draft pick, but he is raw, and likely could find himself being on the practice squad with a chance to make the 2018 team.<\/p>\n<h3>Cornerbacks (6): <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=AlleBr21,AlleBr20&amp;search=Brian+Allen&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brian Allen<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BurnAr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Artie Burns<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CockRo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ross Cockrell<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=GayxWi20,GayxWi99&amp;search=William+Gay&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">William Gay<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SensCo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Coty Sensabaugh<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/cameron-sutton-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cameron Sutton<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The question here will be about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=brian-allen-8,brian-allen-2,brian-allen-6&amp;search=Brian+Allen&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brian Allen<\/a>. He is very raw, but they may not be able to sneak him onto the practice squad without being claimed. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/senquez-golson-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Senquez Golson<\/a> has missed two full seasons and in signing one cornerback and drafting two it is a good sign that they do not expect much from him moving forward.<\/p>\n<h3>Safety (4): <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DangJo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jordan Dangerfield<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DaviSe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sean Davis<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GoldRo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robert Golden<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MitcMi99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Mitchell<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Steelers could be able to sneak an extra cornerback on by cutting Dangerfield and sliding Gay into a safety spot. However, Dangerfield was great on special teams and fared well in a start last season.
