There were rumors that teams wanted to trade<\/a> for Anthony Richardson. Yet, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback wasn\u2019t moved at the NFL Trade Deadline. Richardson, who was benched<\/a> in favor of Joe Flacco, could be traded in 2025<\/a>, though, if he’s unable to solidify himself as Indy\u2019s starting signal-caller.<\/p>\n

If Richardson does get traded, he could ultimately become a star somewhere else. Stampede Blue analyst Jon Spradley<\/a> said he would hate to see Richardson ball out with another franchise:<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope Anthony Richardson starts again for the Colts. I haven\u2019t loved everything I have seen, but before the team turns the page on him, I want to be sure. The Peyton Manning situation was different, but you can\u2019t tell me it wasn\u2019t a bit frustrating watching him break the touchdown record and win a Super Bowl with another team. I couldn\u2019t stomach to see Richardson ball out for another team after the Colts gave up on him so quickly. Will that be the case? I don\u2019t know. Probably not, but I want to know for sure.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A Couple of Quarterbacks Who Found Success with Other Teams<\/h3>\n

Several quarterbacks in NFL history have found success with teams other than the ones that drafted them. Drew Brees is a good example. The Purdue product began his career with the San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers<\/a> in 2001.<\/p>\n

Brees suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in 2005. In 2006, the Chargers allowed him to leave in free agency and turned the starting job over to Philip Rivers.<\/p>\n

Brees signed a six-year, $60 million deal with the New Orleans Saints<\/a>. He led the team to a Super Bowl and was named Super Bowl XLIV MVP. He would later break a long list of NFL passing records during his 15-year stint in New Orleans.<\/p>\n

Peyton Manning, the quarterback that Brees beat in the Super Bowl, spent his first 15 seasons with the Colts. After undergoing neck surgery that forced him to miss the 2011 season, he was released by the Colts and signed with the Denver Broncos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As Spradley mentioned, Manning would ball out with the Broncos. He helped the team clinch their division in his four seasons in Denver. Manning also broke the single-season touchdown record, winning Comeback Player of the Year and a regular season MVP. In addition, he helped the Broncos reach two Super Bowls, winning one.<\/div>\n

Could Richardson Become a Star with Another Team?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The start of Richardson\u2019s NFL career has been far from glamorous. He missed all but four games as a rookie last season due to injury. Then this year, he has struggled mightily when healthy. Richardson has completed just 44.4% of his passes, which is absolutely horrible. Perhaps his inaccuracy and his \u201ctap out due to being tired\u201d<\/a> incident led to him being benched.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Richardson may never pan out with the Colts, and the team could draft his replacement. If he gets traded, he could wind up achieving a bunch of success for another franchise. While he may not lead a team to a Super Bowl like Brees or Manning, he has the potential to figure things out after getting a change of scenery. Quarterbacks like Baker Mayfield<\/a> and Sam Darnold<\/a> have recently reignited their careers with other teams. Richardson could do the same. While he’s extremely athletic, he needs to work on his accuracy issues. It\u2019ll be interesting to see how his career turns out.<\/div>\n
