Originally taking over for the disastrous Urban Meyer, Pederson inherited a roster led by former first-overall pick Trevor Lawrence. With competent coaching, Pederson guided the Jaguars to a playoff birth in 2022 and even earned a dramatic playoff victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. While they ultimately fell to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, the future seemed bright in Jacksonville.

Unfortunately, the wheels fell off the wagon in 2023. After starting the season with an 8-3 record, Doug Pederson’s team collapsed down the stretch, losing five of their last six and narrowly missing the playoffs to rookie phenomenon C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans. With even worse results in 2024, the Jaguars had no choice but to fire head coach Doug Pederson midway through the season.

Doug Pederson originally joined the NFL world as a player. Best known for his time backing up Brett Favre with the Green Bay Packers, Pederson finished his playing career completing 54.8% of his passes for 2,762 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions. He joined the coaching ranks in 2005 but first made a name for himself with the Kansas City Chiefs. Serving as Andy Reid’s offensive coordinator, the former quarterback established himself as one of the better offensive minds in the game and became Philadelphia’s head coach in 2016.

Paired with second-overall pick Carson Wentz, Pederson had the quarterback looking like an MVP in 2017 before winning the Super Bowl with backup Nick Foles. Unfortunately, the success couldn’t last, and the Eagles fired him as Carson Wentz regressed. One year after the Eagles decided to fire him, Doug Pederson landed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Main Photo: Kirby Lee – USA Today Sports

With another disappointing campaign in the works, the Jacksonville Jaguars decided to fire head coach Doug Pederson.

[13,36
265,7646,6249
post-194234","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-jaguars","category-nfl-news","tag-doug-pederson","tag-jaguars-featured","tag-trevor-lawrence
["GET
