The second-year tight end became a target machine in the Cardinals offense. Now that teams know what he’s capable of, what should you expect from McBride in 2024?

2024 Fantasy Football Profile: Trey McBride

Fantasy Football Draft Guide

2023 in Review

As mentioned above, it wasn’t all perfect for McBride last year. In fact, the first half of the season was horrendous as it took until Week 8 for him to have a game that produced over eight points standard leagues and a game that produced over 12 points in PPR leagues.

Trey McBride

THE PEOPLE’S TE1.

Once in full-time role, led Sam LaPorta in
⁃ Yards After Catch
⁃ Air Yards Share
⁃ Target Share
⁃ FPts/Game
⁃ Catch %

McBride: 20+ FPts four times during Weeks 8-18.

LaPorta: 20+ FPts just three times all season.

BEST PICK in Round 4. pic.twitter.com/h1QPDCJooi

— Joe Orrico (@JoeOrricoFF) August 16, 2024

From Weeks 8-17, McBride was a completely different player. He accumulated 40+ yards in all but two games and caught 3+ passes in every single matchup. It shot his fantasy value through the roof in the second half of the season. If by some chance he was on waivers heading into Week 9, he definitely wasn’t there going into Week 10. His second-half performances put him right up there with guys like Sam LaPorta in the second half of 2023.

2024 Projection

Given how his 2023 season finished, it’s safe to say McBride’s value isn’t going down anytime soon. Even with Marvin Harrison Jr. now in the offense, McBride should still see a large share of the targets. Kyler Murray is returning this year and is expected to be fully healthy for Arizona. That in itself should keep fantasy owners happy about McBride.

[tgdcta items=”1″ id=”170466″]

The jump from his second year to third year won’t be as large as when he went from Year 1 to Year 2. However, McBride should still see an increase in receptions, yards and touchdowns in 2024. Don’t be surprised when he has over 100 receptions, 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns this fall. FantasyPros shows McBride having the easiest tight end schedule in the league, and it will play into his dominance once again.

Trey McBride Fantasy Football ADP

McBride’s ADP currently sits at 48 with a range of 27-94. Taking him ahead of guys like LaPorta or Travis Kelce is surprising to say the least, but it’s less shocking than him falling to 94. Given how he performed in the second half of 2023, it’s almost impossible to justify him falling that fall in the draft.

Trey McBride is going to feast 🍽️ pic.twitter.com/VjRpPUrRMw

— PFF Fantasy & Betting (@PFF_Fantasy) August 16, 2024

His current draft position is where it should be. It’s one pick before Mark Andrews as the second wave of tight ends starts to come off the board. McBride is currently viewed as the TE3 in fantasy and has the potential to finish as the TE1. He’s more likely to finish in the 3-5 range though amongst his fellow tight ends, but even if he falls into the fifth spot, it’s still good value for him.

McBride should easily justify his ADP in 2024 and doing so will make him one of the best tight ends in fantasy football again. He’s going to be in a position to see a lot of work, and Harrison Jr. being there will draw away some of the defense’s attention. If McBride falls to you in rounds 5-6, don’t be afraid to grab him before it’s too late.

Main Photo Courtesy of Michael Chow – Arizona Republic – USA Today Sports

Trey McBride surprised everyone in fantasy last year and proved to be a hidden gem.
