With a brand new philosophy and a coach who knows how to work and dodge media questions, information has been quite limited to the public space. Especially for veteran players who do not have the same amount of hype around them as rookies or previous high-round draft selections. However, these 3 studs from the first week of Chargers training camp are players who have shined through.

3 Studs From The First Week of Los Angeles Chargers Training Camp

Ladd McConkey

The Chargers’ second-round selection in 2024 is expected to have a major role as a rookie. Considered one of the best receivers of his class, and arguably the smoothest separator of the entire class, Ladd McConkey has continued to show why his investment was worth it. Quarterback Justin Herbert and McConkey have quickly gotten acclimated to each other, and are working on their connection.

Ladd McConkey will have 100 catches this year. Considering the young Chargers offense, he does bring a veteran-like ability to find soft spots in zones and a consistent ability to beat man coverage. This Chargers training camp stud is only on the rise and should be considered as one of the Chargers’ best weapons in 2024.

Justin Herbert x Ladd McConkey is going to be an electric duo. #BoltUp pic.twitter.com/YYNiApCZv2

— Chargers Central (@BoltCentral) June 7, 2024

Cam Hart

The very next stud on this list is Chargers fifth-round selection, Cam Hart. The rookie out of Notre Dame was known for his length and size at cornerback. Hart also boasts impressive athletic ability, which allowed him to easily become some scout’s “gem” at the Cornerback position. Now as a member of the Bolts, he has already shown impressive play during the first week of Chargers training camp, going up against anyone and everyone.

This Cam Hart interception was the highlight of the first daypic.twitter.com/JswZ8zPFZi

— Kris Rhim (@krisrhim1) July 24, 2024

With Kristian Fulton having a solid training camp himself, the competition is fierce for Hart to start right away. However, the stock for the Notre Dame product is only getting higher, and he will be competing to the very end for the starting outside cornerback job next to Asante Samuel Jr. Even coach Harbaugh has given high praise to the rookie, commenting “We look at him and go you got the license and the ability to a long way in this game”

#Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh raving about rookie CB Cam Hart #BoltUp pic.twitter.com/b4sohTk57v

— Guilty As Charged Podcast (@GACPodcast17) July 24, 2024

Joe Alt

Rounding out as the third stud from the first week of Chargers training camp is another rookie, the Chargers first-round selection Joe Alt. Also coming from Notre Dame, Alt makes the list along with his fellow alumni, Cam Hart. The fifth overall selection had the argument to be the best player in the entire draft, as he had immaculate size, athleticism, technique, and bloodlines. The 6’9 mauling tackle has been all over the field for the Chargers, lining up both at right and left tackle.

Joe Alt is handling his business this 11v11 period (at LT). pic.twitter.com/QhfZqrA6PT

— Tyler Schoon (@tylerjschoon) July 29, 2024

Even with the change of position on short notice, Alt has been quite impressive. This move was not due to his play, just simply due to injuries. The offensive line has been going up against one of the best EDGE groups in the entire NFL, leading to Alt really getting tested early on. Even against double-digit sack artist, Joey Bosa, Alt has held his own.
