Dave Canales didn\u2019t mind witnessing two teammates exchange heated words. <\/span>Or engage in an end-zone scuffle during Day 2 of the Carolina Panthers NFL mandatory minicamp<\/a>. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first-year coach described Wednesday\u2019s experience as \u201canother great day.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During team drill portions at the practice field behind Bank of America Stadium, new pass-rush specialist Jadeveon Clowney<\/a> and running back Raheem Blackshear disputed a touchdown catch and became involved in a scuffle.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nothing major, Canales said, noting the emotion highlighted the \u201ccompetition\u201d of the rebuilding Panthers\u2019 offseason training. He appreciated how Blackshear didn\u2019t shy away from a possible mismatch. Clowney stands at 6-foot-5, 266 pounds and Blackshear is listed at 5-9, 190 pounds.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe competition is what we want to see,\u201d Canales said during Wednesday\u2019s press conference. \u201cWe want to see the energy. It was a lively deal.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe pushed it to the edge, guys were getting really chippy. Just kind of asked them: Play at that edge, (but) let\u2019s not step over, let\u2019s protect our team, let\u2019s be great teammates first. And the guys handled it and responded well.\u201d <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Panthers enter their summer break following Thursday\u2019s pad-less practice and meetings. They are scheduled to return for training camp in late July.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I came into was a group that already knows how to work, a group that knows how to create a great locker room environment,\u201d Canales said. \u201cSo a lot of these things that you want and expect from a pro team, these guys have that, and they have that standard already set. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“And I’m just like, great, let’s keep doing this.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
