Running quarterbacks in particular are a a cheat code. Managers looking to draft one early should strongly consider one of the dual threats listed. Those who are punting the position until late could still find a top-10 quarterback around round 9.

CJ Stroud – The addition of Stefon Diggs makes the Texans’ offense loaded. Stroud is a candidate to lead the NFL in passing touchdowns.

Lamar Jackson – Derrick Henry will likely vulture coveted goal-line rushes, but Jackson’s rushing yardage will always keep him high on these fantasy lists.

Jalen Hurts – Expect offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to get a great season out of Hurts. The rushing touchdowns might come down but so will the picks.

Patrick Mahomes – Patrick Mahomes had the least productive regular season of his career in 2023. The wide receiver core still isn’t ideal but look for Mahomes throwing for 30something touchdowns again.

Anthony Richardson – The sample size is minuscule, but Richardson looked to be a fantasy cheat code. His potential is sky-high, but so is the risk of injury.

Jordan Love – Love could be on MVP watch but it may not translate to a top 5 fantasy football season. Week-to-week consistency is the next step forward for the signal caller.

Josh Allen –The Bills’ offense is in transition, so Allen might not be able to recreate his NFL-leading 44 touchdowns in 2023. This alongside his propensity for turnovers keeps him out of the top 5.

Dak Prescott – Not sure if Prescott will throw 36 touchdowns again, but the motivation will be there in a contract year.

Jared Goff – The Lions have a potent offense and he’s an efficient cog within it. A very solid quarterback to draft if you punt the position early.

Brock Purdy – The 49ers are stacked with playmakers to make Purdy’s life easy.

Honorable Mentions

Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, Tua Tagovailoa

Running back

Gone are the days when running back was the majority position drafted in round one. Running backs have been devalued in real life, but they’re still a necessity in PPR leagues. Managers should shoot for dual-threats or running backs on teams who will frequently be in a position to score.

Christian McCaffrey – Touchdowns are king and McCaffrey is a touchdown machine. Look for CMC to be in a position to score a lot again.

Breece Hall – Hall finished 2nd in PPR leagues behind a leaky offensive line. Imagine what he’ll do this season behind a revamped one.

Bijan Robinson – Arthur Smith inexplicably underutilized Robinson. Robinson could compete for the top spot if Raheem Morris centers the offense around him.

Saquan Barkley – Even without Jason Kelce, Philadelphia’s offensive line is leaps and bounds better than NYG’s. Look for Barkley to have a big fantasy football season.

Jahmyr Gibbs – Gibbs will run behind a powerful offensive line. His pass-catching will offset splitting carries with David Montgomery.

Kyren Williams – Williams missed 5 games and he still finished 7th in PPR leagues. Sean McVay loves to feed his running backs, so treat Kyren Williams as a workhorse this fantasy season.

Johnathan Taylor – Taylor is a complete back with an opportunity for a ton of carries.

Derrick Henry – The best running back of his era heads to a good team that likes to run the ball.

Aaron Jones – It took all season, but Jones proved that he is still fast and dynamic when healthy. Managers who get Jones late could get a league winner.

Travis Etienne – Etienne wasn’t efficient in 2023, but he should see a ton of volume again in 2024.

Rachaad White – Like Etienne, Rachaad White wasn’t very efficient. However, he sees a lot of touches and has value as a dual-threat back.

David Montgomery – The lack of pass-catching keeps Montgomery out of the top 10. Look for him to get double-digit touchdowns again, though.

Alvin Kamara – Kamara has never run for 1000 yards in his career. Don’t look for that to change in 2024, but Kamara’s fantasy value has always been as a pass-catcher.

Honorable Mentions

DeVon Achane – Size, splitting carries, and durability make Achane a difficult start. The upside is insane, however.

Wide Receiver

Dominance at the wide receiver position has replaced running back as the path to championship contention. Managers should draft accordingly. Wide receiver is an extremely top-heavy position in fantasy football. The position thins out considerably by round 6. Fantasy managers should draft receivers early and often with their first six picks. Managers waiting until after 8 to find starting wide receivers would be better off utilizing the waiver wire.

Tyreek Hill – Hill is the most electrifying wide receiver since Randy Moss and he is still in his prime.

CeeDee Lamb – Quarterback Dak Prescott is in a contract year, so Lamb should have a focused and motivated Prescott throwing to him.

Puka Nacua – It might be a risk to draft Puka this high but look for Nacua to have a monster sophomore season.

Justin Jefferson – J.J. McCarthy starting is the only factor keeping Jefferson as the best fantasy wide receiver.

Ja’Marr Chase – A full season with Joe Burrow should have Chase back as a top 5 fantasy football receiver.

Amon-Ra St. Brown – St. Brown is a catch-machine in a well-oiled offense. St. Brown is a perfect receiver for PPR leagues.

Garrett Wilson – Wilson suffered through dreadful quarterback play but still managed 95 catches for over 1000 yards. Even a declining Rodgers should significantly increase Wilson’s fantasy football production.

Mike Evans. – Mike Evans finding a way into the end zone is inevitable.

AJ Brown – Kellen Moore will likely have Jalen Hurts spreading the ball around more in 2023. AJB should still succeed but don’t look for as many forced throws.

Davante Adams – Move with caution considering the quarterback situation, but Davante Adams is still Davante Adams.

Michael Pittman Jr. – Pittman Jr. is a catch machine. The ceiling isn’t high but he’s an excellent fantasy player to fill into the flex.

Rashee Rice – This position could change if Rice ends up with a suspension. Rice had a solid rookie campaign that he should build upon.

Nico Collins/Tank Dell/Stefon Diggs – The wide receiver core is suddenly crowded with no indication of a pecking order. The offense should be potent so add one (or all!) to the roster.

Honorable mentions

Marquise Brown, Jaylen Waddle, Brandon Aiyuk, DJ Moore

Tight End

Sam LaPorta – LaPorta was elite as a rookie. It’s fair to assume that in a good offense, he can expound upon that in his second year.

Travis Kelce – Kelce is the best tight end in football but he’s number 2 in fantasy. Expect another Hall of Fame level season.

Evan Engram – Engram had an eye-popping 114 catches last season. Engram should continue to be a centerpiece of the Jaguars offense, and without wide receiver Calvin Ridley, could be depended on more.

Kyle Pitts – Pitts has a quality quarterback for the first time in his career. This could be the season he maximizes his freakish potential.

George Kittle – There are lot of mouths to feed, so be mindful of the number of targets. Kittle is still a playmaker when he does get the ball.

Trey McBride -McBride started to take off during the 2nd half of 2023. Carrying that momentum into 2024 will make him an elite tight end.

Mark Andrews – Injuries ended Andrews’ 2023 season prematurely. Look for him to retain his form in 2024.

David Njoku – Njoku was explosive with Joe Flacco. He hasn’t found that connection with Watson, so proceed with caution.

Dalton Kincaid – Buffalo lost its top two wide receivers this off-season, so look for Josh Allen to lean on Kincaid.

Taysom Hill – Hill is labeled a tight end but is used almost everywhere else. Hill is extremely boom-or-bust, so have another starter-level tight end on the roster.

Honorable Mentions:

Cole Kmet, Dallas Goedert, Jake Ferguson

Main Photo: Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

This is a ranking of the best fantasy football players by position for PPR fantasy football leagues going into the 2024 season.

[59,54
32186,294
post-173762","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-fantasy","category-editorials","tag-2024-nfl-offseason","tag-fantasy-football
["GET
