The Oakland Raiders?<\/strong>\u00a0Maybe, but for how long? After roughly three hours of\u00a0discussion, the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee<\/strong>\u00a0unanimously voted to recommend the Raiders stadium proposal in Las Vegas. This was a huge step in the possible relocation of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The SNTIC Unanimously Recommends the Raiders Stadium Proposal<\/h2>\n

The meeting opened up with public comments supporting the Raiders stadium proposal. Most of those\u00a0were in support of\u00a0the because of the\u00a0University of Nevada Las Vegas<\/strong> football program. UNLV currently plays in the antiquated Sam Boyd Stadium<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Once the public comments phase was over,\u00a0it was down to business. Mayor Carol Goodman <\/strong>opened with\u00a0one last ditch effort to push the Cashman Field<\/strong> site. Coincidentally, that is the\u00a0only site\u00a0actually in\u00a0Las Vegas city limits. It did not take long though for the committee to that location. After that\u00a0Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak<\/strong>\u00a0took point.<\/p>\n

After a bit of back and forth on two different plans, the\u00a0SNTIC<\/strong> Unanimously voted to recommend the Raiders and Sands Corporation<\/strong> version of the Raiders stadium proposal.<\/p>\n

The key component was the 750 million in public funding, no more, and no less, sourced directly form the SNTIC meeting page<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

So what happens now?<\/h3>\n

Fans should expect Mark Davis<\/strong> and Sheldon Adelson<\/strong> to request a special session of the Nevada Legislature<\/strong> from Governor Sandoval<\/strong> immediately. That, by itself, does not mean that a special session can happen immediately though. The first thing is the Raiders Stadium Proposal\u00a0is going to the Clark County Commissioners for review. That happens next Tuesday at 9am. After that\u00a0there is a campaign funding law that needs to be scheduled around. There is also the possibility that Governor Sandoval pushes this proposal off to after the election.<\/p>\n

One thing is clear,\u00a0this is certainly not the last word on the potential move to Las Vegas. That said, today the\u00a0Raiders and Nevada<\/strong>\u00a0moved a lot closer to making a Raiders Stadium, in Las Vegas, a reality.\u00a0Also, Mark Davis has been very clear,\u00a0that if Nevada approves the 750 million in public funding, he will move the team there by 2020.<\/p>\n
