They are credited as one of the founders of the new era of spread and up-tempo football. This massive change has even crept into the NFL and started an enormous surge in how football is looked at forever. The mountaineers also have been a hotbed for NFL talent such as Geno Smith, Rasul Douglass, and Kyzir White. Another promising prospect from West Virginia is named Zach Frazier.

Frazier was a three-star prospect out of Fairmont, West Virginia, and committed to the Mountaineers. It took Frazier no time to establish himself as an elite player, as he started nine games as the left guard. He was voted first-team all-freshman for his play. Frazier would then move to center the following offseason and become a two-time All-American. Will he turn his college success to NFL SUCCESS? Let’s dig into the film.

Zach Frazier Player Evaluation

Frazier’s Strengths

Burly, with his stout build and low center of gravity, he has the look of a center. He is a Former College wrestler who shows how he uses his hands to contort defenders, sustain himself, and win with leverage.

He is good at both zone and power scheme runs, showing off his versatility to fit any team. He can reach the defensive lineman and get to his outside shoulder.

He can also display power by putting defenders in the dirt and creating alleys for runners to go through.

It is a plus out in space on screens and pulls to provide quality blocks. They can kick out defenders, see moving targets, and finish.

He can get to the second level and engulf linebackers.

Has guard and center versatility. He played guard as a true freshman and center the rest of the way.

Frazier’s Weakness

Above-average athleticism limits his NFL potential and may limit his positional versatility. His lack of athletic ability hurts him against quick-shift rushers in pass pro.

Inconsistent punch and strike timing in protection leading to some losses

He has an average arm length, and his average power can only compensate for it if he maintains excellent leverage. This can lead to trouble at the next level vs. high-end DTS

Average to good at everything but is nothing special at anything either.

He needs to keep his head up when blocking; he has a habit of going head first and dropping his head.

Projection: Second Round Pick

NFL Comparison: Tyler Biadasz

Best Fits: Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Miami Dolphins.

Bottom Line

Zach Frazier is a day-one starting Center in the NFL. His highly touted college career shows a high football intelligence, the ability to fit in both power and zone schemes, and versatility, which shows why he will be a high-round draft pick. NFL pro comparison was Tyler Biadasz, a durable versatile starting center for years to come.

Main Photo: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Zach Frazier is a highly touted college career shows a high football intelligence, the ability to fit in both power and zone schemes.

[1647,54
10073
post-170004","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-draft","category-editorials","tag-2024-nfl-draft
["GET
