The New York Jets have made big additions for the second offseason in a row. Coming into the offseason the Jets had needs at offensive line and wide receiver. They\u2019ve addressed both of those areas in free agency.\u00a0<\/span>One of the biggest signings of the offseason was the Jets bringing in second-team All-Pro, Tyron Smith<\/a>. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>There\u2019s undoubtedly some risk that comes with this move as he has had injury issues in recent years, but he is still a dominant player when on the field.\u00a0<\/span>At right tackle, they acquired Morgan Moses from the Baltimore Ravens in a trade. They also acquired the Ravens\u2019 starting left guard John Simpson after signing him to a two-year deal in free agency.<\/span><\/p>\n

A complimentary wide receiver to Garrett Wilson has been a lacking component in the Jets\u2019 offense in recent years. They addressed this need in free agency by signing Mike Williams to a one-year deal.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>New York also built upon a strength when they made one of the biggest splashes of the offseason last week when they traded for Haason Reddick from the Eagles<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Headed into the draft, the New York Jets now have a lot of different areas they could look to address and we hop into it with a three-round mock draft.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2024 New York Jets Three-Round NFL Mock Draft<\/h2>\n

Round One, 10<\/span>th<\/span> Overall: Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

With Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses both being short-term solutions, an offensive tackle at tenth overall is still very much in play but it\u2019s no longer a dire immediate need. This opens the door for the Jets to bring in another pass catcher. In this 2024 NFL mock draft scenario, the Jets select Brock Bowers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bowers is considered by many to be one of the best tight-end prospects in recent memory. As a pass catcher, he\u2019s very good in contested catch situations as he high points the ball very well adjusts to make catches outside of his frame, and he utilizes his size to shield off defenders from being able to make a play on the ball very well.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His after-the-catch abilities can also be utilized as Georgia did a great job of getting the ball in his hands either on end arounds or in the flat and let him work out in space as his combination of size, strength, and athleticism make it very difficult for defenders to bring him down in space.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Round Three, 72<\/span>nd<\/span> Overall: T\u2019Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Jets brought in Javon Kinlaw to play alongside Quinnen Williams along the Jets interior defensive line on a one-year deal this offseason. Kinlaw is a good pass rusher but leaves a lot to be desired as a run-stopper. Drafting T\u2019Vondre Sweat would give them an excellent complement to Kinlaw\u2019s skillset.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sweat is a massive defensive tackle who commands double teams at a very high rate in the run game as there simply aren\u2019t many offensive linemen who can hold up one one-on-one against him in leverage battles. The power that Sweat plays with also translates well to his pass rush reps as he was able to create push in the pocket consistently at Texas.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He projects to provide a lot of value to a team with a day-two selection and he\u2019s somebody the Jets will strongly consider if he\u2019s on the board at 72nd overall.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
