October is near and at this point, teams are starting to show their identities along with the fantasy studs they’ll showcase each week. As the season moves on, it’ll start to get harder and harder to buy certain players or sell disappointing stars to your fantasy football leaguemates. All the same, targeting these players to upgrade your roster or move on from lackluster talent will only benefit you going forward. These are your weekly trade targets for Week 4.

Read More: Week 4 Waiver Pickups

[cta id=445 type=cta]

Fantasy Football Week 4 Buy and Sell Targets

Fantasy Football Players to Buy

James Cook (RB: Buffalo Bills)

Heading into the season fantasy drafters were skeptical if James Cook could be a true starting running back. In Cook’s first three games, he’s proved he can be the guy. He’s averaged 18 touches per game and surpassed 10 fantasy points in each contest. The only downside is that he’s failed to reach the end zone thus far. Regardless, being attached to Josh Allen and the high-flying Buffalo Bills offense is a positive for Cook’s fantasy production. The volume is there to have RB1 upside each week. See if you can cook up a trade for the running back today.

Michael Thomas (WR: New Orleans Saints)

It almost seems like Michael Thomas was an afterthought after a string of injury-riddled seasons. Well, to start the 2023 season he’s showing glimpses of his 2019 version. Thomas has accumulated 18 receptions for 166 yards on 26 targets to start the season. He’s gone three straight games with 11 or more fantasy points. Not bad for a player being drafted outside the top-40 wide receivers. As defenses focus their attention on Chris Olave, Michael Thomas is getting more open looks and taking advantage. As long as Thomas remains healthy, he’ll continue being a weekly fantasy starter. He’s the ideal WR3 or flex option for your fantasy team, so go out and make an offer for him today.

Darren Waller (TE: New York Giants)

The New York Giants started their season having to square off against two of the best defenses in the NFL within the first three weeks: the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. It has stunted the growth and momentum of the offense to get things going, but the schedule opens up during the next couple of weeks. As most expected, Darren Waller has been the best pass catcher for the New York Giants. Waller leads the team in target share (21%), receptions (12), and receiving yards (132). However, in fantasy, Waller has scored under seven fantasy points twice in three weeks and the owner might be frustrated. Better times are ahead for Waller and the Giants offense. Buy Darren Waller before his value jumps, he’s the lowest-priced tight end with top-5 upside at the position.

Bonus Buy – Courtland Sutton (WR: Denver Broncos)

There’s not much to be excited about when it comes to the Denver Broncos, but Courtland Sutton hasn’t disappointed through three weeks. Sutton has been the Broncos’ best wide receiver and is averaging 14.63 fantasy points per game. He leads the team in almost every major receiving category and is the only player on the team with double-digit receptions (17). The Denver offense hasn’t reached its mountain peak yet, so there is still time to climb up the ranks. Buy one of the lone bright spots on the Denver Broncos offense.

Fantasy Football Players to Sell

Breece Hall (RB: New York Jets)

Welp, it’s time. Fantasy managers tried to hold out hope that the New York Jets would get better offensively with Zach Wilson under center, but things just aren’t clicking. What makes things worse is that Breece Hall simply is not being utilized. Hall has a measly 17 touches over his last two games and things aren’t about to get better. The Jets square off against two of the best teams in the league (Kansas City and Philadelphia) over the next four weeks and even have a bye thrown in. Not only do those teams have good run defenses, but the Jets could abandon the run altogether and fade Hall once again if they trail big. Hall has failed to score over 3 fantasy points over the last two weeks and it’s time to just take the loss. Put him on the block and take the first offer you get.

Romeo Doubs (WR: Green Bay Packers)

Jordan Love and the Packer’s passing attack has been on fire to start the season. Romeo Doubs had 12 targets last week on his way to five receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown. In perspective, in the first two weeks, Doubs had six receptions for 56 yards and two touchdowns on eight targets. Currently, he sports a 21% target share and it’s about to drop with Christian Watson due back next week. Romeo Doubs is a boom-or-bust player and he just so happened to boom to start the season. He’s gone over 18 fantasy points in two of the first three weeks and someone thin at receiver might take the “upgrade” at the position.

Pat Freiermuth (TE: Pittsburgh Steelers)

Pat Freiermuth is coming off his best performance of the season. Since it was on Sunday Night Football, it should still be fresh on everyone’s mind. Freiermuth has been a disappointing fantasy football tight end through three weeks after an offseason full of hype, which means you can capitalize on the hype and sell him to anyone willing to buy. So far this season, he’s only gotten five receptions and 46 yards but does have two touchdowns. He’s just not getting the volume needed to be trusted in your weekly lineups. With a low 9% target share and a touchdown or bust type stat line, you should try to sell him to a TE-needy team.

Bonus Sell – Zack Moss (RB: Indianapolis Colts)

Coming off back-to-back 20+ fantasy point games, this is the perfect time to sell high on Zack Moss. After this week there is the potential of All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor returning to the team and leap-frogging Moss back atop the depth chart. Even if it’s a split backfield and Moss remains involved, the upcoming schedule is brutal having to face some of the best rush defenses in the league. Zack Moss the workhorse has been fun while it lasted, but it’s time to sell high and get a quality player in return while you can.

Universal Responsible Gambling Disclaimer: Ages 21+.
