One rumored team, in particular, has strong ties to the franchise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to some, [Chicago Bears General Manager] Ryan Poles has called [Chiefs General Manager] Brett Veach about Chris Jones,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/4oQFu6vjcUhubU6P9MWDTt\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ESPN 1000\u2019s Carmen DeFalco<\/a> on \u201cCarmen and Jurko\u201d on August 25. \u201cPoles and Veach are obviously very close. You\u2019ve got that relationship \u2013 I don\u2019t know if that makes it harder or easier to get a deal done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeFalco was clear in saying that he was \u201cnot reporting anything\u201d. But the Bears were aggressive in upgrading their roster this offseason. They even added pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue earlier this month.<\/p>\n<h2>Chiefs&#8217; Chris Jones on NFC Upstart&#8217;s Trade Radar<\/h2>\n<h3>Bears \u2018Called&#8217; Chiefs, Says Podcast Host<\/h3>\n<p>Poles spent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagobears.com\/team\/front-office\/ryan-poles\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">13 years in the Chiefs organization<\/a>. He started as a player personnel assistant and finished as the Executive Player Personnel Director before taking over the Bears last offseason.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is very rumor mill-ish stuff,\u201d DeFalco said. \u201cThis has, in the last day or so, made its way across various websites. Also was discussed on a very prominent gambling podcast. \u2026 That would be our good friend, Todd Fuhrman\u2019s podcast, the \u201cBet The Board&#8221; podcast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve heard some rumblings that \u2013 I mean the rumblings are that they&#8217;re not in communication right now. But the other rumblings are like the Chicago Bears have called,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=STEjwWtH6nU\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said Fuhrman\u2019s co-host, Payne Insider<\/a> on the August 24 episode of the podcast. \u201cI&#8217;m not insinuating a trade\u2019s coming. But I know the Bears have called about Chris Jones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jones, 29, is heading into the final year of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/nfl\/kansas-city-chiefs\/chris-jones-18985\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">four-year, $80 million contract<\/a>. In sports, as in any other business, deadlines drive results. The deadline could force the Chiefs\u2019 hand as they prepare for the stretch run.<\/p>\n<p>If they are still reluctant to pay Jones what he feels he is worth, they run the risk of having a malcontent in the locker room, though that remains to be seen. [Travelle] Wharton is returning from an ACL injury. [Keondre] Coburn has promise. But he&#8217;s a sixth-round rookie.
