For fantasy football players, the time is now to start looking for those waiver wire options for Week 6. Several starters went down and will miss extended time, so it’s now up to their backups to fill their shoes. As the season starts to heat up, more and more players will be used in certain high-workload roles. You’ll definitely want them on your fantasy team because touches and work usually mean production.

Note that to qualify for this list, a player needs to be available in at least 50% of fantasy leagues. Depending on the various sizes of fantasy leagues, there could be better or worse options available than the ones listed here. This article will cover leagues with an average of about 10-12 teams.

READ MORE: Christian McCaffrey Trade Destinations

Kenneth Walker, Jakobi Meyers Featured Waiver Wire Targets Before Week 6

Running Backs

Kenneth Walker, Seattle Seahawks

Walker is the biggest target this week, as he’s scheduled to take over the Seahawks’ starting running back job. Proven starter and fantasy stud Rashaad Penny is out for the rest of the season and leaves behind his starting duties. Penny was seeing a steady average of about 13 touches a game while also splitting a few carries with Walker. After Penny left early in the Week 5 game, Walker put up 88 yards and a touchdown on eight carries.

Walker could be a league winner for fantasy teams just as Penny was a year ago. The Seahawks’ offense has found a new identity with Geno Smith and is looking good. They have been one of the highest-scoring teams in the NFL and that won’t stop anytime soon. Walker is available in 52.5% of leagues still, but he’ll likely be gone soon as his numbers start to rise in the coming weeks.

Eno Benjamin, Arizona Cardinals

While Benjamin hasn’t produced eye-popping numbers, it’s still interesting to see that Benjamin is getting a decent share of carries. Benjamin has gotten four carries in every game so far and also has eight carries in two of his past four games. Also, he’s had four targets in four of his five games this season. He is seeing a steady stream of touches, roughly ten a game, and so far turned that into 233 total yards and a touchdown.

The Cardinals’ starter, James Conner, has been battling a few minor injuries this season. He has had nothing that has kept him out for an extended time, but Benjamin could see more touches if it means giving Conner some extra time to rest. As of now, Benjamin is available in over 93% of fantasy leagues and is really only a sound option if you are in deep leagues with 16+ teams.

Wide Receivers

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes frequently looks MVS’ way, targeting him 31 times already in five games. He has struggled bringing in all of his targets, catching just 19 of them for a 61% catch rate. He has 258 yards and averages about nine fantasy points a game. But, for players in deep leagues, MVS could be a fantastic option for a few points. He has yet to reach the end zone but should find it soon, and has a good chance to do so with a pass-heavy matchup coming against the Buffalo Bills.

Rondale Moore, Arizona Cardinals

Moore has only played two games this season but has already gotten 13 targets from Kyler Murray. He brought in ten of those for a total of 79 yards. The next few weeks should start to reveal more about Moore and the type of target share he’ll receive. He is definitely not a start in anybody’s fantasy lineups yet but it will be interesting to watch how he develops. As of now, he is available in over 68% of leagues so he could be a decent waiver wire option for beyond Week 6.

Jakobi Meyers, New England Patriots

Meyers has been one of the best wide receivers this year, but injuries have kept him out for two of the Patriots’ five games. Meyers is averaging 18.6 points per game, which ranks eighth for wide receivers. He has posted 95+ yards in each of his last two games and has also scored a touchdown. In his last two games, he has 16 total receptions on 21 targets, which is a healthy share.

Meyers is only available in 26% of leagues due to drastic shifts already, but if he is still available, get him now. He could be a dark-horse candidate to be a solid option each and every week. And with all of the Patriots’ quarterbacks battling injuries, whoever is starting needs a solid option: luckily, Meyers is consistently a good target.

Five weeks of play are in the books for the NFL.
