Coming out of high school, Dulcich was a preferred walk-on for UCLA. He played sparingly in his first two years, only appearing in six games. In those half-dozen appearances, Dulcich amassed 121 yards and a touchdown off of nine receptions. Before the 2020 season, UCLA officially offered Dulcich a scholarship and he broke out from there.

In his junior season, he led the Bruins in receiving yards with 517 and touchdowns with five. He did all this with just 26 receptions in the COVID-shortened season that saw UCLA play just seven games. On three occasions, Dulcich led his team in receiving yards in a single game, topping out at a career-best 167 yards in a loss to USC. His efforts earned him Second-Team All-Pac 12 and he used that momentum to have a great 2021. Dulcich finished his career by posting 725 yards and five touchdowns off of just 42 receptions. He recorded two 100+ yard games and earned First-Team All-Pac 12 for his play.

Strengths

Good athlete;

High ceiling as it pertains to route-running ability;

Can be relied upon for YAC;

Good hands, can catch the ball over the shoulder and away from his body;

Averaged over 18 yards per reception.

Weaknesses

Lacks reliable run-blocking strength;

Doesn’t quite have a quick-twitch ability;

Tends to get stood up and loses leverage in blocking scenarios;

Needs to continue to develop a fuller route tree.

NFL Comparison: Hayden Hurst

Teams With a Need at Position: Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals

Projection: Third Round

Bottom Line on Greg Dulcich

In a class of athletic tight ends, Dulcich will certainly find a home and carve out a solid NFL career as a receiving threat. During his career, Dulcich continued to improve yearly, finally ending as a legitimate prospect. To start, Dulcich will be utilized as a pass-catching threat until he can develop his run-blocking abilities. Dulcich projects as a solid to plus starter at the next level. As a rookie, Dulcich will likely be part of 12 personel packages to pair with a more complete tight end to disguise their intentions. If he’s in and the offense is in 11 personel, it’s a sure tell.

An NFL team that is not in a hurry to play him could benefit by essentially redshirting him a year to learn behind an established veteran. He has decent enough speed to be a threat along the seam at the next level. Once he develops a full route tree and crisper routes, Dulcich will be a solid tight end. He’s not far from being a solid threat, any NFL team could use his athleticism.
