The former Texas Longhorn has carved out a role for himself on the Cowboys stellar offensive line since 2018. Williams has played alongside great offensive linemen such as Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zack Martin. Dallas has had one of the best offensive lines for the better part of the last decade.

Williams’ first three seasons were his most efficient. The star offensive linemen started 10, 11, and 16 games respectively. He found the field quickly earning a starting position in his rookie season. Williams lost this starting position but quickly returned to the limelight replacing an injured Zack Martin. In 2019 Williams maintained his starting position before suffering an ACL injury in week 13 ending his season on 1 December.

The offensive lineman struggled in 2021 with 14 total penalties. These 14 penalties are by far the most in his career with no more than six penalties in 2018, 2019, or 2020. The biggest penalties came in the 2021 opening round of playoffs. The Cowboys struggled to gather momentum against the San Francisco 49ers and Williams’ two penalties killed would-be drives.

Williams’ play has been disappointing considering his draft cost. The former second-round pick has been a black eye on the Dallas offensive line for most of the 2021 season.

Connor Williams through the years pic.twitter.com/KhWmGxliTe

— PFF College (@PFF_College) March 13, 2018

Before Dallas drafted Williams, he played his collegiate career for the Texas Longhorns. He found the field quickly starting all 12 games at left tackle. As a sophomore, Williams earned first-team All-American honors—only the fourth player in school history to receive such an accomplishment. Williams’ junior season was up and down plagued by a left knee injury. He was only able to start five out of 12 games in 2017 before declaring for the NFL draft. Williams’ recent disappointing NFL tenure aside, he was regarded as one of the best offensive linemen prospects in all of NCAA football before being drafted.

Main Image:

Embed from Getty Images

Read about Connor Williams free agency signing, as well as his professional and college football career at Texas University.

[36
8848,8776
post-131353","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","tag-2022-nfl-free-agency","tag-connor-williams
["GET
