Trent Brown, New England Patriots, Agree to Contract<\/h2>\n

At 6’8, 380 pounds, Brown is a bulldozer at tackle and an imposing figure. He is 28 years old and currently the heaviest player in the NFL. This past season, Brown played in nine games and took 84% of the snaps during the regular season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After just seven snaps into the season, Brown injured his calf and missed the next three games before landing on injured reserve. He was impressive when he returned to play in Week 10. His solid play was not surprising; Brown made the Pro Bowl in 2019 even after missing five games.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brown’s return stabilized a struggling offensive line. He strengthened the pass protection and only gave up one sack. At times, he was a dominant run-blocker and often knocked defensive players on their back, creating massive running lanes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Pro Football Focus’s grading metric, Brown recorded the highest pass-blocking rating of his career with 81.2. His overall grade of 78.3 is the 20th best out of all the tackles in the league. Brown is also versatile; he can play both left and right tackle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Injuries have plagued Brown; he has played in seven seasons now and only played an entire season twice. Missing games was not always his fault. In 2020, when he returned from Covid protocols, there was a mishap with an IV before the game when Brown got fluids. Somehow, air entered his bloodstream, and it became a dire situation. Luckily, Brown recovered and is back to himself, but it derailed his season, and he missed the next six games.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brown spent the first three years of his career with the\u00a0<\/span>San Francisco 49’ers<\/span><\/a>, who drafted him in the seventh round in 2015. Then, in 2018, they traded him to New England, and he made an immediate impact; he was brilliant and helped them win Super Bowl LIII<\/a> (53).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When Brown hit free agency for 2019, the<\/span>\u00a0Las Vegas Raiders<\/span><\/a> offered Brown a four-year contract that would make him the highest-paid tackle in the NFL. Unfortunately, he would only play in 16 games over two seasons. So, the Raiders traded him to the Patriots for future draft consideration.<\/span><\/p>\n
