According to Adam Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings<\/a> will be placing Adam Thielen<\/a> on injured reserve. This will end the regular season for one of Minnesota\u2019s star wide receivers. Thielen initially suffered an ankle injury in the Vikings game against the Detroit Lions<\/a> on December 6th. \u00a0The injury was then reaggravated in Minnesota\u2019s recent game against the Los Angeles Rams<\/a>. Thielen has recently had surgery on the ankle, thus him being placed on season-ending injured reserve. There is a chance he could return for the playoffs if Minnesota were to make it that far. Sadly, that is looking unlikely with a game against the Green Bay Packers<\/a> upcoming in Week 17.<\/p>\n

Adam Thielen To Injured Reserve With Ankle Injury<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Thielen is considered one of the elite wide receivers in the league. Thielen and Justin Jefferson<\/a> have become arguably the best receiving duo in the NFL. Thielen was en route to another 1000+ yard season before getting bogged down by the ankle injury. Now, one of Minnesota\u2019s best players will be unavailable for their most important game of the season.<\/p>\n

On the season, Thielen has recorded 67 receptions for 726 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also registered 37 first downs and accumulated a catch percentage of 70.5%. Those numbers average out to around five receptions per game and 55.8 yards per game. It is clear to see that Thielen would reach 1,000+ yards on the season with ease if not for the injury.<\/p>\n

This injury could not have come at a worse time for both Thielen and the Vikings. But it is worth noting that Minnesota has already beaten Green Bay once this season. A repeat just seems unlikely now without Thielen healthy. Add in Minnesota\u2019s season-long consistency issues, and this upcoming game may not be that close. It will be up to Kirk Cousins<\/a> to get the ball to Jefferson often and minimize or hopefully eliminate turnovers.<\/p>\n
