Tre\u2019Davious White<\/a> left Thursday night\u2019s game with what was believed to be a serious knee injury. Adam Schefter has now confirmed that the Buffalo Bills<\/a> cornerback has suffered a torn ACL. This injury will bring an end to the star defensive back\u2019s 2021 NFL season. It is a crushing blow for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.<\/p>\n

Buffalo Bills Cornerback Tre\u2019Davious White Tears ACL<\/strong><\/h2>\n

White was once widely considered to be one of the top defensive backs in the NFL. He had been in constant competition with the likes of Jalen Ramsey<\/a> and Xavien Howard<\/a> for the top spot in the league over the last few years. White was, unfortunately, going through somewhat of a down season before suffering this injury. But even though he has not been playing up to his usual standards, White has still remained a vital contributor to Buffalo\u2019s secondary.<\/p>\n

On the season, White has allowed 31 receptions which is tied for 38th<\/sup> in the league amongst qualified cornerbacks. He has recorded just one interception and one forced fumble on the year. It is unlikely that White was heading for another Pro Bowl nomination with his slippage in performance this season. Regardless, his loss is going to be felt by Buffalo down the stretch. It will now be up to players like Levi Wallace<\/a> and Micah Hyde<\/a> to ensure Buffalo\u2019s pass defense does not become a glaring weakness.<\/p>\n

While it is true that White was trending downwards this season, he is still only 26 years old. It is unfortunate when a star-caliber player like this suffers such a devastating injury during the prime of their career. At this point in the season, Buffalo currently ranks second in passing yards surrendered per game (178.5). This average will probably increase with the loss of a player of White\u2019s caliber. It is unlikely that anyone will be able to fill the void White is leaving behind this season.<\/p>\n
