The Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> coaching staff needs a rebuild after the 2021 season. Through seven games, the team holds a 2-6 record with plenty of talent to be better than what the win\/loss record states. First-year head coach Urban Meyer<\/a> has been through off-the-field shenanigans that are inexcusable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jacksonville Jaguars Coaching Staff Changes Must Happen<\/h2>\n

Last month, Jaguars owner Shad Khan stated that Meyer would have to win the team back. So far, he has failed to do so. To make matters worse, the Jaguars put up a not so great offensive performance last Sunday. Jacksonville defeated the Buffalo Bills 9-6 to move to 2-6 on the season. With so much talent, the offense should be able to move the ball down the field more often. Instead, the offense is depleted and has only scored over 20 points in two games. The two wins came against the Miami Dolphins<\/a> and Buffalo Bills<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A New Offensive Coordinator is Needed<\/h3>\n

All of the blame shouldn\u2019t be on Meyer, though. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell<\/a> has to make better play calls for the Jaguars\u2019 offense moving forward. With Trevor Lawrence<\/a> under center, Jacksonville should be a much better team at this point. Sure, the offense has dealt with injuries this season. Wide receiver D.J. Chark<\/a> is out for the season and Laviska Shenault<\/a> has underperformed this season. Jacksonville has to get the passing game clicking to have more success. Lawrence will likely be limited this week as he is dealing with an ankle sprain.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Jaguars have about half of the 22 starters that are solid enough to help win football games. Except, the offense has lacked the ability to put up points. Meanwhile, Jacksonville\u2019s defense played well on Sunday against the Bills as they pulled off the upset win.<\/p>\n

Bevell should not be the offensive coordinator going into the 2022 season. Jacksonville\u2019s inconsistency to score points this season has cost them a few wins. Heading into week 10 of the season, something has to change. It\u2019s unlikely that the Jaguars will make coaching changes during the season. However, changes must take place after the completion of the 2021 season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Defensive Changes Must Be Made<\/h4>\n

Switching to the defense, the Jaguars have given up an average of 29 points per game in 2021. When the team hired Joe Cullen as defensive coordinator, the unit was expected to be solid. Instead, the defense has allowed teams to get ahead early and often. With the offense not being able to capitalize on drives, it\u2019ll be up to Cullen\u2019s defense to keep the Jaguars in games moving forward. The upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts<\/a> will be a challenge for the defense.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Lies Ahead for the Jaguars<\/h4>\n

Just like the offense, the Jaguars defense has had a string of injuries to deal with through the first seven games. But that side of the ball has the solid talent to play with the best teams in the league. Cullen has to devise a better game plan in the final 9 games of the season. If not, he could also be on the way out at season\u2019s end. <\/span><\/p>\n
