Saquon only had 11 touches in a loss to the Denver Broncos this past Sunday but I think that touch count number is going to rise if the Giants want to get in the win column this season. Over the offseason, the Giants added Kadarius Toney in the draft and Kenny Golladay in free agency. These new receiving weapons for Daniel Jones should keep Saquon Barkley from seeing so many stacked boxes. Playing in 2 games in a 5 day period though is going to be rough for the star running back to become acclimated.

Saquon said this after week 1, “I don’t think the schedule is ideal for coming back off a major knee injury to have two games back-to-back, but that’s what it is. That’s what’s in front of me and that’s the challenge I have to face. To the question of my workload and how much can I handle, it’s easier for me to stay up here and say, ‘I don’t know, just listen to the coaches.’ When you’re in the game and your adrenaline’s going and you start getting a rhythm and you start feeling yourself again, that can go from fewer reps or more reps, I don’t know to be honest. I’m not in that decision, I don’t make that decision, I’m just playing my role by showing up on Thursday and the plays that I do get, try to help my team to the best of my capability.”

Giants vs Washington Recent History

Without diving back too far in history, the Giants have won the last 5 matchups in a row. The last time Washington Football Team won against the Giants, Eli Manning was playing quarterback and threw 2 interceptions. I am imagining that the Giants will put James Bradberry on Terry McLaurin to keep him from having another big game. After all, Bradberry is an underrated lockdown corner in the NFL.

James Bradberry is a bend but don’t break cornerback

James Bradberry may not have enough in him to shut down an elite talent like Terry McLaurin. Giants safety Jabrill Peppers will be lurking around to stop a homerun play from getting out of hand. McLaurin has had some recent success against the Giants and is coming off of a cold game against a stingy Chargers defense. There is a good chance that we see a bounce-back game from McLaurin.

Taylor Heinicke played well replacing Ryan Fitzpatrick

Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to miss at least multiple weeks after suffering a hip subluxation injury in the first half of week 1. Taylor Heinicke filled in pretty well for Ryan Fitzpatrick and after the game, this is what Head Coach Ron Rivera had to say about Taylor, “He gave us a spark when we needed it. When Taylor stepped in and brought some energy, that was a huge plus. There is something about Taylor; that’s a huge positive. It brings a little something.”

Taylor Heinicke found a few holes in the defense after the first half as he floated up a ball to Terry McLaurin who somehow managed to shake off one defender who couldn’t keep his hands off of him. After shaking the defender, McLaurin managed to do a last-second 180° turn to catch the ball that went in and out of a defender’s hands. Taylor Heinicke hit Logan Thomas for a touchdown on the play after McLaurin’s miracle catch.

Dyami Brown could surprise while filling in for Curtis Samuel

Curtis Samuel has been dealing with a groin injury all of training camp and it has officially landed him on injured reserve. Before the season started, the last route that Curtis Samuel took didn’t look quite right before walking off to the side and working with trainers. The player who could benefit the most since Curtis Samuel is still going to be out with an injury is 3rd round pick Dyami Brown out of North Carolina. Dyami Brown is a field stretcher as he gets early separation from defenders and has great route running.

Pick: Washington, cover spread

Over/Under: 41.0 [Pick: Under]

Main Photo: Embed from Getty Images

This is everything you need to know before placing some bets before the Giants vs Washington, Thursday Night Football game.
