Imagine a world where Winston is slinging the rock and actually not turning it over. His opening week couldn’t have gone much better. Winston finished with 148 yards passing and five touchdowns. He also added 37 yards on the ground. This week he gets to take on the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers just allowed a solid debut to rookie Zach Wilson. He’s a sixth-round rookie this year and didn’t really receive much fantasy draft consideration outside of the deepest of leagues. The San Francisco 49ers are notorious for varying their running back usage. He also had Raheem Mostert and fellow rookie Trey Sermon ahead on the depth chart. How quickly things in the NFL change. Sermon was a scratch on gameday and Mostert left early with an injury paving the way for Mitchell to receive the bulk of the carries. He rewarded the coaching staff on his way to 104 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. That was good for 16.40 fantasy points. This week he has a much tougher matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Sermon also seems likely to be active this week and should steal touches too. Even still, Mitchell is still likely to see double-digit touches in a high-powered rushing attack and that’s a player worth playing if running back is an area of need.

Honorable Mentions – James White (NE – 33%) @ NYJ, Mark Ingram (HOU – 19%) @ CLE

Wide Receiver – Cole Beasley (BUF – 45%) @ MIA

Cole Beasley saw 13 targets in Week 1. That was tied for sixth-most in the NFL with Keenan Allen. Sure Josh Allen threw the rock 51 times in Week 1 but the Buffalo Bills were one of the most pass-heavy teams last season and it should be expected the trend will continue this year. He won’t average 51 attempts per game, but opportunities will be ample for the Bills wide receivers. Stefon Diggs is the clear alpha among the pass catchers but after that, it’s up for grabs and Beasley seems to be the next guy more often than not. He likely won’t see another 13 targets this week but anytime you see that much work it can’t be ignored. This week he faces the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins aren’t an outlier defense in either direction so they aren’t a unit to avoid. If wide receiver is an area of need, Beasley should make for a nice streamer in Week 2, especially in full PPR formats.

Percentage of snaps spent in the slot in Week 1:

95% – Christian Kirk
92% – Cole Beasley
90% – Amon-Ra St. Brown
84% – Laviska Shenault
82% – Terrace Marshall, Zach Pascal
75% – Chris Godwin
72% – Gabe Davis, JuJu, Tyler Boyd
68% – Jaylen Waddle
66% – Sterling Shepard

— Jacob Gibbs (@jagibbs_23) September 13, 2021

Honorable Mentions – Sterling Shepard (NYG – 39%) @ WFT, Christian Kirk (ARI – 13%) v MIN

Tight End – Juwan Johnson (NO – 10%) @ CAR

Tight end is always the trickiest position every year. Most of the off-season and early preseason was filled with Adam Trautman hype and then Johnson came on strong late as the supposed “pass-catching” tight end. It’s only been one week but so far the hype was warranted. He only had three targets but he made the most of them as he caught all three for 21 yards and two scores. The New Orleans Saints got a big lead and didn’t need to throw much so it will be interesting to see how many targets he sees in a game where they throw it more. That could happen this week against a decent Panthers team. If tight end is an area of need (which it is for most teams) Johnson seems like a good guy to take a shot on and see if he can continue with good production.

Honorable Mentions – Jared Cook (LAC – 26%) v DAL, Cole Kmet (CHI – 34%) v CIN

[pickup_prop id=”11945″]

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Fantasy Football Week 2 Stream Team; Each week this column will analyze a player at each position rostered in 50% of Yahoo leagues or less.

[59
665,7984,349,116,8652
post-121382","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-fantasy","tag-cole-beasley","tag-elijah-mitchell","tag-fantasy-football-rankings","tag-jameis-winston","tag-juwan-johnson
["GET
