According to the latest NFL rumors, the Dallas Cowboys are not interested in making Cam Newton their backup. In other news, Jerry Jones weighed in on Buffalo\u2019s potential move, while Tom Brady doesn\u2019t sound like he plans on retiring any time soon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[pickup_prop id=&#8221;10903&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h2><strong>NFL Rumors: Cam Newton, Buffalo Bills Stadium, Tom Brady<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/patriots\/\" target=\"_self\">New England Patriots<\/a> shocked the world when they released quarterback Cam Newton. Despite the selection of Mac Jones, Newton still received the vast majority of the first-team work and was widely believed to be the favorite to start in Week 1. However, Jones won the job, leaving Newton to find a new gig with one of the 31 other teams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Newton might <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2021\/09\/01\/whats-next-for-cam-newton\/\" target=\"_self\">have to settle for life as a backup<\/a>, but that opportunity won\u2019t be coming with the Dallas Cowboys. Speaking to reporters, head coach Mike McCarthy said that the team <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com\/2021\/09\/02\/mike-mccarthy-cam-newton-has-a-ton-of-football-left-very-excited-about-our-qb-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will not be going after<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Newton. The team has evaluated Newton and apparently feels that the quarterback isn\u2019t a notable upgrade from Cooper Rush or Will Grier.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While on the airwaves, Jerry Jones addressed how the team came to that evaluation. While he never specifically said whether or not he talked to Bill Belichick regarding Newton, Jones did say that \u201cCam Newton is not playing because everybody has evaluated it and they\u2019ve made a decision\u201d while adding that it was \u201cvery, very easy\u201d for the Cowboys to evaluate Cam.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reading between the lines, it looks as though the Cowboys are simply relying on their own self-scouting in this case. Newton clearly isn\u2019t the player he once was, but he is still considerably better than Cooper Rush and Will Grier. Teams are constantly moving around in today\u2019s day and age, with other owners generally approving the moves. Jerry Jones, however, seems to hope the Bills find a way to stay in their current home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Noting that Buffalo is \u201ca special place\u201d, Jones likened the Bills to Green Bay in that both franchises have survived the test of time in smaller markets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s hard to imagine a world without Buffalo football, as Bills fans are notorious for being some of the most passionate in the game. Hopefully, the city and team will be come to an agreement to keep the Bills in Buffalo for the foreseeable future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jones might genuinely want the Bills to stay in Buffalo, but he also has a financial reason to hope the Bills don\u2019t find a new city. Back in June, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/nys\/buffalo\/news\/2021\/06\/18\/bills-select-firm-to-represent-ownership-in-effort-to-build-new-stadium\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bills hired Legends<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to represent the Bills. Legends is co-owned by Jones, so he\u2019d lose a decent chunk of change if the Bills end up moving.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Tom Brady Hoping to Be In Tampa For \u201cA Long Time\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite being 44 years old, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has no interest in retiring any time soon. While the quarterback has admittedly he\u2019s closer to the end of his career than the beginning, Brady recently said that he\u2019s hoping to be with Tampa Bay \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/sports\/bucs\/2021\/09\/04\/tom-brady-in-tampa-bay-hopefully-im-here-for-a-long-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for a long time<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d. Brady, of course, won the Super Bowl while ranking near the top of just about passing category and has shown no signs of slowing down.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The seven-time Super Bowl champion is currently under contract for the next two seasons and seems to be enjoying life as a Florida man. Saying that \u201cit\u2019s been so much better\u201d than what he could\u2019ve imagined, he says that he loves the city of Tampa as well as the year-round fantastic climate.
